Just put enough weight on it and it’ll stay down.

Hi thank you for your inquiry. Although IKEA makes high quality product such as your hällestad counter top which is made of Particleboard, High-pressure melamine laminate, Reinforced polypropylene. It maybe possible with time can cause warping of the counter top due to the weigh which will depend on moisture and temperature in your area. Hope this helps .. thank you

Yes, you can tilt it down but only about 20-30 degrees. Tilting up has more degree of freedom.
