This makes "pretzels" in that the items that come out of it are pretzel shaped but they aren't exactly traditional pretzels by any means. Aside from that it's a cute idea and simple enough to operate. Making food into fun shapes is always a good way to get my picky kiddo to eat so I'm happy to have it in my arsenal. Would recommend to others.

Since the advertised pretzel making kit in the product description is nowhere to be found, I found a video on YouTube from the manufacturer about how to make your own pretzels for use in this machine titled "SUPERPRETZEL Pretzel Maker Instructions Video | Fizz Creations". This shows you how to use this machine using bare ingredients. While a bit time consuming (including 30 minutes of yeast resting time), this machine does indeed make some yummy pretzels in the end. The machine is easy to use once you get the dough in there. In about 8-10 mins you get some nice, warm pretzels. After doing this once, I am left wondering how often I will be doing this since it was sort of time consuming. I'd just as well get frozen pretzels and throw them in a microwave sometimes. But if you have kids, this would make a fun family project to do once in a while. And of course, these pretzels are probably healthier than the frozen ones. Five stars for the machine itself since it works as advertised. I just wish the process was easier.
