I keep these in my Fire bunker gear pocket. They have helped me a few times cutting loose wires during fire attack and during overhaul. I don’t think They aren’t design for this but with the spring open and comfy handles they are easy to use with my gloves on.

I bought these specifically for cutting coaxial cables such as RG174, RG316, RG58, and RG59. For that purpose, these cutters are excellent. They should work fine for lighter multi-conductor cables as well. If you need cutters for heavier cables and things like 12 gauge power cords, you should probably go with a pair of forged clam shell cutters like the Klein model J63050. Just as I wouldn't use these to cut a 10 gauge power cord, I wouldn't use the model J63050 to cut RG174 coax.
