Flipper: Season Two
E**R
MY FAVORITE SEASON OF FLIPPER!
I bought this season first. In fact it was in November of 2018. I’ve always enjoyed this show. It was one of the earlier ones I remember from when I was younger. It has popped up on cable in recent years and I introduced it to some of my younger relatives. Whichever episodes they aired, I don’t ever remember seeing “ULLA STRÖMSTEDT” at all.SEASON TWO have Thirty Episodes. The Opening Theme Song for the first Five Episodes is sang by someone who sounded a bit like Bobby Darin. But it returns to the Original Opening Song in Episode Six. “Ulla” is in less than half of the episodes. Her Character is a stubborn and independent “Oceanographer”, who is introduced in this Season by Flipper, who rescues her when she becomes surrounded by Barracudas while she was “collecting samples”. He takes her to where Ranger Porter Ricks, and his Sons: “Sandy” and “Bud” are, out on their Motorboat. Bud is doing “Homework” and Sandy is helping Porter. Ulla gets scolded by Porter about the dangers of Diving alone, which she wasn’t very happy about. But then when Ulla gets into trouble and have to be rescued by Porter, she lets go of some of her stubbornness and admits that she was wrong. She and “The Porters” fast becomes friends after that.Ulla was in exactly Twelve Episodes, which appeared in the following order:Episode One: “Flipper And The Mermaid”Episode Two: “Dolphin In Pursuit” - Part 1Episode Three: “Dolphin In Pursuit” - Part 2Episode Six: “Junior Ranger”Episode Seven: “The Ditching” - Part 1Episode Eight: “The Ditching” - Part 2Episode Ten: “Dolphin Patrol”Episode Nineteen: “Slingshot”Episode Twenty-Five: “Flipper Joins The Navy” - Part 1Episode Twenty-Six: “Flipper Joins The Navy” - Part 2Episode Twenty-Seven: “Flipper’s Underwater MuseumEpisode Twenty-Eight: “Deep Waters”The Remaining Episodes Are:Episode Four: “Flipper’s Hour Of Peril”Episode Five: “Coral Fever”Episode Nine: “Flipper And The Spy”Episode Eleven: “A Job For Sandy”Episode Twelve: “Flipper And The Horse ThievesEpisode Thirteen: “Flipper And The Bounty”Episode Fourteen: “Shark Hunt”Episode Fifteen: “Flipper, The Detective”Episode Sixteen: “Flipper’s Odyssey - Part 1Episode Seventeen: “Flipper’s Odyssey - Part 2Episode Eighteen: “Flipper’s Odyssey” - Part 3Episode Twenty: “Flipper And The Shark Cage”Episode Twenty-One: “Lobster Trap”Episode Twenty-Two: “Air Power”Episode Twenty-Three: “Gift Dolphin”Episode Twenty-Four: “The Raccoon Who Came To Dinner”Episode Twenty-Nine: “Dolphin Love” - Part 1Episode Thirty: “Dolphin Love” - Part 2I had hoped that they would use Ulla as a Love Interest for Porter. Unfortunately they didn’t. The chemistry was there. But the Writers didn’t have the foresight to use it. There was much teasing and flirting. However, that was as far as it went. “Ulla Norstrand” came and went. And nothing further was referenced or mentioned about her Character on the series. One thing I know for sure: when Fans of a show like Characters who are paired up as possible Love interest and it’s not completed to a logical conclusion, the Fans feel let down.Ulla Strömstedt was featured in an Article in the Los Angelos Times, on Monday August 29, 1966, titled: “Sex Symbol Escapes Fish Tank” By Paul Henniger. To paraphrase Ulla, she wasn’t very happy that her character didn’t become a Love Interest for Porter. She thought it would happen in the last episode she was in: “Deep Waters”, when she and Porter gets trapped under the water in her Submarine. It was written to focus more on Flipper helping to get them rescued than to have them expressing how they had come to feel about each other.I thought that was going to happen. Of course it didn’t. The last thing I saw Ulla in was a movie titled: “Catalina Caper”. But since this review is not about that movie, I won’t discuss it. All I will say is: anyone who enjoyed that whole 1960’s Beach Movies Genre, will probably like that movie too. It’s better than some of them are. Unfortunately Ulla passed away on June 13, 1986, in Cannes, France. I haven’t been able to find out what caused her death. Ulla and Brian Kelly dated for awhile, before she got Married to an American Businessman she met when she was in Italy. She mostly disappeared into oblivion until the reporting of her death. It’s such a shame that they didn’t continue to reoccur her Character in Season Three.

Great quality transfer of an classic
I have never seen this show look so good! Of course once in a while you find an episode that is not as good as others because of the age of the films but even those look so crystal clear! I loved this show as a kid and was never able to watch it much until it went into reruns and even then it was not on as much as some other shows! I highly recommend this version from Olive Films over the DVD version that pales in comparison!
