V Is for Vegan: The ABCs of Being Kind

This book is so cute! I used to read this book to my daughter every day when I was pregnant while she was still in the womb. Even at only a few months old my daughter loved this book. She's now a year old and her love for this book remains.The pictures are adorable, the colors are vibrant to hold the interest of the little ones, and the words are honest in a fun way that kids can understand.I highly recommend this children's book for all vegetarian and vegan families. It really helps normalize our way of life and helps children understand a more compassionate lifestyle. I love it and really enjoy Roth as an author and artist. I have her book "Vegan is Love" as well and plan on buying more of her works soon.

This is a great book for children. The author has thoughtfully created this book to be a learning experience for older children and younger children. My daughter has been vegan since conception. I've been vegan for about 7 years (2016). This book allows my daughter to grasp concepts of our lifestyle without. The way that book has been written--- it enables parents to interact and further explain reasons that we choose do live and do things differently. My daughter is at a very inquisitive age. I know she will be asking more questions. This book answers and allows for a child to probe further into simple compassionate alternatives to things other people would likely not acknowledge.As a whole--- this books is AWESOME!

Very nice. Book was in great condition. I had to remove 1 sticker on the cover, but it was easier than I thought. It has a library pocket inside front cover which is pretty cute & fun to put something in as a gift to a child. Has that great library smell!

We're a longtime vegetarian family for animal compassion reasons and plan to raise our son (now 5 months old) the same way. We preordered this book based on the premise and weren't entirely sure what to expect, but had high hopes. It was not a disappointment in any way. Beautifully illustrated with catchy rhymes and an underlying message of compassion that should be taught at any age to vegans and carnivores alike. Our son loves the pictures and sits happily in my lap while I read to him. At some point, as he gets older, this book will help open up the dialogue on many important subjects about earth stewardship and animal compassion. Really hoping this author and illustrator collaborate on additional books.

I purchased this book for my nephew. I think it’s so important to teach these lessons from a young age.

Bought this to begin introducing the concept of living a vegan lifestyle to our son, who IS living a vegan lifestyle and just doesn't know that other people eat animals, cow's milk, eggs, etc. "That's Why We Don't Eat Animals" is still a bit too old for him.We liked the ideas connecting insects held in glass jars to zoos as jails for exotic animals. Loved the introduction of where eggs come from. I didn't eat eggs as a child once I found out the general location where they came out. For a child it is enough to know where eggs come from. As a teen or adult, a person may want to understand the discomfort and pain a hen is subjected to laying eggs, even if she is "free range" and cared for, she still has to go through the pain of laying an egg.This book is about kindness. It is thought-provoking for any person of any age.

Very cute book. My daughter is about 17 months old and loves it. That being said... my first thoughts were that it's a bit smaller than I thought it would be and I'm not in love with the illustrations (sorry) but I think it's important to have books like this in our vegan household. The message is nice and happy and it also has some humor thrown in.

Really simple way to make kids understand about animals and what they should represent and make kids being compassionate and empathetic!

This book is a classic for vegan families who want to educate their children on their choices. I bought this book for a child who decided to become vegan and who is learning English as a second language: she really enjoyed it and I highly recommend it from her.
