I waited a couple months to do a review so that I had a good sample size on utilization. We have had a Shark Navigator for many years. It still runs and does a really nice job, but this Stratos is an upgrade in performance. The new Shark also has not clogged up with hair (so far) which was my primary pain point with our old Navigator. The Stratos cord length is about perfect for me, and the pickup on multiple surfaces is terrific. The Stratos weighs a bit more than the old Navigator, but I have no issue with lift away use. I will add that I am a pretty strong man, so the weight may be a concern for some users. The only downside is that it comes packaged with few attachments. My old Navigator came with an entire bag of extra attachments. Unfortunately, the Navigator attachments are not compatible with the Stratos vacuum. I love the Shark products. In my experience, they are better than more expensive machines from others (Dyson).

Good vacuum. Still better than Dyson, in my opinion. This beast is heavy tho. The roll seems a little stiff, which may be due to the weight. The tools still fall off all over the place, seems like no brand has figured out the solution to that. Improvements needed: the light turns off when you pull the wand off. It would be great if it would stay on so you can still see when in dark corners and hallways. I have to fight with the dust cup to put it back on. It just doesnt seem to align well. Or engage properly. My previous sharks didnt have this problem. Maybe mine is flawed. Speaking of dust cup, there is a plastic lip that partially surrounds the dust cup. When you are winding the cord back up when the dust cup is not in place, the cord slips into the area normally occupied by the dust cup. It gets caught up on this little lip of plastic. Putting the cup back on can be even harder than normal if youre not paying attention. Pretty minor one, but has gotten me a couple times now. Shark is still my go-to brand. This particular model didnt seem particularly different than their other higher tier models I've bought in the past. The suction is stronger though, which is the point. Overall a good vacuum, but I did get spoiled by my cordless stick version when it comes to the weight and ease of movement. But that broke 6 mos after purchase (different brand), so here I am back to a standard vacuum.

Damn, I've only used it a few times, but this vacuum seems to be spot on for my needs. I have long haired cats and a dog too. They shed and track in lots of dirt and yard debris. This Shark'nado has done a bang up job of picking up every bit of it. It is a bit heavy for this old gal, but I can manage it. I also appreciate that the collection tank is easy to lift off the vacuum, then a quick release lever dumps the dirt easily into a garbage bag, so no need for buying extra vacuum bags!

The suction is impressive on this vacuum. But you will get one heck of a workout, so switch arms. And many people will find that they are not able to use it, especially if older. The features on this are also a LOT less than the one I purchased around a decade ago. I THINK it was the NV752. It had SO many extra features, just tiny little things that made it easier to use. Example: You don't realize how much an LED light on the end of the wand matters, until you don't have one and you are under the bed, or reaching behind some furniture to clean, and because you can't see anything, you have to go get a flashlight... Then hold it while also moving the wand, trying to ensure it doesn't get stuck on anything, which with even the attachment can still happen. Oh, and it also had an LED by the handle, so if you just pulled it out with a brush, you had extra light shinning on what you were cleaning. It really makes a difference. I would like to have seen the motorized brush become basic on at least the higher models, like it was when I purchased the 752. Even with all this power, the air powered one stops at even the lightest pressure. And with pets, I need to clean vacuum the upholstery, so that is a necessity. It's hard to figure out which models actually carry it though. I'll admit to it being my fault, but I had thought I was getting a package with it being included. But after reading so much information, I may have gotten things mixed up. And that is on a microfiber material that is rather stiff (bought for toughness more than anything), so is easier to vacuum than other softer, possible bunching fabrics. Also, while the hose may technically be long... Good luck in using it without someone to hold and help stretch it for you. Even pulling it a foot requires effort and beyond that will start to move your unit. I guess they made it like this to prevent "sag". But with my previous one, I could go quit a ways without affecting the base, then when I put it back up, there was a plastic holder, where you slid in the male counterpart on the hose. Super simple and cheap to do. My hose never dragged along the carpet and I was actually able to USE it. Oh, on the brush at the front for hard floors. It really does help remove the dusty haze and keep them clean... BUT, it is also one of the things that makes it difficult to use on carpets. They really should have an option to lift it slightly for carpet, or even all the way, for those that only want to use it on hard flooring. Also, I recently spent about 15 minutes cleaning up behind the roller. Why isn't it open to suction behind it, so that the vacuum can pull the debris out??? Instead, if it doesn't get caught by the vacuum at the floor level, then it pulls it up behind it, until enough gathers that it refuses to turn. I need to pull out the directions so I can see how to properly take it apart. But I used two small screwdrivers, while moving the roller back and forth, to get all the gunk that had built-up out of the casing behind the roller. It just kept coming and coming. lol You would think they could have come up with a better design. Or if not that, an easier way to remove the buildup, so that they can EASILY be cleaned. But that is something Shark has never been good with, easy access for cleaning. I remember a past model was very difficult. And I think a screw was so cheap and "soft", that because they put it in so tight, I striped it trying to remove and had to take more severe action to finally get it off. Remember when you could just flip a latch and you were finished a couple of minutes? Why all the screws and the need to pull out instructions to properly do it (so you don't loose your warranty by accidentally breaking something)? Last thing I will advise, and it's a bit embarrassing to admit, but check that all the parts are there, including the ones that may already be installed, such as your filters. I made that mistake and found out today, that my HEPA filter was missing. I of course called Shark and was told that I needed to have contacted them within 30 days. I figured that would be the response, but had hoped SOMETHING might be done. I didn't even get the typical lame offer of 10% off their inflated OEM prices. lol I did ask that an official complaint be filed, so that it might help someone else in the future, when this happens to them. In summary, if I was just rating it on the suction, it would be a 5. On actual use, design, and ease of everything else, I'm giving it a 2. The no filter thing, then not willing to even give me a discount, is still kind of raw since it happened less than an hour ago. lol I remember when Shark had really great CS. Now the lady I spoke with was very nice, but when you call overseas, they will mindlessly follow every rule. Or that is what has been my experience. While with call centers located in the US, you are more likely to get people that say they can't do anything themselves, but don't think this situation is right, so with my permission are going to ask for an exemption, or forward it to someone that can override the "rules".
