No it does not. It only sharpens to one point.

Is the photo of the pencil tip accurate, ie the tip is flattened at the end? Or does it make a sharply pointed tip?

This is the greatest pencil sharpener on the planet. It makes a long perfect point every time and it does not scare the pencil with "teeth" marks from the holder. I use it to sharpen my Blackwing pencils for music writing and there is nothing like it. Attaching it to something is a little tricky, but it works so easily that you really will not need to attach it to a base.

Will this pencil sharpener sharpen fat pencils like young kids use when they are starting out? Or only standard-width pencils?

Hi! This is a great pencil sharpener but unfortunately it sharpens only standard-sized pencils. (We also have some fat kindergarten pencils at our home but they won’t fit in this sharpener!)
