This book is GREAT and perfect for beginners!
If I am honest, I always get a little weary when I see books dedicated to a certain culture because I have read quite a few that were not authentic to the culture they claim to represent. Alison does a fabulous job at honoring the Chinese traditions. I am happy to see it celebrated in Western culture! everything from the quotes from Chinese tradition, to the explanation and benefits of Qigong, to the pictures and descriptions of the exercises themselves, this book is absolutely great! It gives you an appreciation and an excitement to learn more and get started. I am ADHD and I have a hard time following directions for movement in written form but I had no issues. What a great GREAT book to read and get you started on your Qigong journey!

Very Interesting History
I found the history that was included to be interesting! I had absolutely no idea about much of what was shared before I read this. I am very interested in the aspect of improving cognitive health. Preventing cognitive decline is a personal interest of mine. This book is easily understood, and is a smooth read. If you're also interested in the mind-body connection, or preventing cognitive decline, you'll really appreciate this book

Improved Balance and Strength for Seniors
I have been practicing yoga for over 20 years. A couple of the classes they offer during the week are Tai Chi and Qigong. I can tell you from experience that this works. This book gives you the background and origins of Tai Chi and Qigong and explains how they improve physical strength and balance. It works for seniors even if you have never done it before. This book gives you many exercises along with images so you can do this yourself from the comfort of your home if you choose. I highly recommend this book and learning Tai Chi and Qigong.
