It buys you time, but I recommend the fan attachement instead for prolonged use.

The case itself sucks, but the heatsink radiator cap works a little bit to keep temps down.Theres not much else to say. Its a cap/face plate for a mini ssd magnet case.

If you need a little help controlling the temperature of your SSD, this passive heatsink is an excellent option. Well made, beautifully cut and the right price makes this good value, if you can get away with it.Installation is a little tricky, trying to get the screws to fall into place without falling between the heatsink fins, but it eventually comes together. If you must, use a magnetic driver and hold the SSD upside down (drive screws upward).It also comes with thermal paste, in the form of an adhesive pad, to be applied during install. TBQH, it’s not ideal, and there are better solutions available, as it’s quite thick, covers a gap of over 1mm (with my SSD of choice) and thus insulates, more than transfers, heat. But, for $8, who’s complaining?The only issue is this: unlike the back cover this replaces, there is no MagSafe array. You can’t attach anything atop the heatsink. If you need the secondary MagSafe array, Hagibis makes a matching TEC and fan.

MC100 is a great tool to extend the video recording time especially for those with 128 GB of IPhone. The SSD technology makes it possible to match the speed and afford the space to record extended length of video. MC100 connects my SSD to my iphone. However, the issue is when recording a lengthy video the SSD gets hot. I really don't understand why MC100 doesn't come with its own heat sink. It's made of metal. It's good to dissipate heat. I think this heat sink should have come together with MC100.Installing this fins cover is easy and straight forward. Just screw them in in 4 corners. This fins works by providing more surface area of the metal in a clever way, by doing slim vertical bar of metal. The heat gets spread out over a larger surface area. Thus, the overall heat dissipates.It's definitely a must for someone who uses MC100 and records over hours of video.

It is a well-made product, but I was disappointed to realize it’s only the cover and not the full enclosure. I expected more than just the upper cover. If you’re looking for a replacement part for your MC100, this will work, but be aware it’s just the cooling cover.

When recording or transferring a lot of data to the SSD, it tends to heat up and that can be bad for it and it can thermal throttle. Adding a way to dissipate the heat, can alleviate that problem. It's easy to replace the cover and it works well.

I ordered the MC100 a few months ago and used it when filming for a weekend shot-film competition. It worked great, but my got a little warm after prolonged use—the MC100 is made entirely of metal, so it does an OK job of keeping cool.When I saw this, I decided to order it and give it a try. It did a much better job at dissipating heat, but does add a small amount of bulk.That said, I Hagibis had thought this out a bit more when designing the MC100. It would have been great if the MC100 itself was magnetic so you could just attach this and easily remove it when not needed. I know they sell a similar attachment—which I'll review as soon as I receive it—but it seems like this was a missed opportunity.Still, it works as advertised and I would recommend it if you do a lot of recording.
