No, I'm pretty sure this is a n original part. Perfect fit and hold. Seems a little costly for a rubber ring, but if it stops you from canning, than it's not so much I guess. Just glad to have found it. Will be purchasing a at least one more for a rainy day. Just in case.

The media could not be loaded. I've used and loved my Presto pressure cooker for many years, but the little rubber plug recently started leaking a bit of steam. I use this pressure cooker all the time, so am not surprised.As I show in my video, replacing the plug is very easy: just pop out the old one, if it's still around (my blew out when I stabbed it with a chopstick), and then slide in the new one FROM THE BOTTOM. It just pops into place.I used my pressure cooker just after replacing the plug, and it worked just like new.Note that it used to be the case that it was recommended that you oil up your ring and plug before putting them in place. Presto does not recommend this. The plug and ring can just be put in place right out of the box.My only wish is that you could just buy plugs, but I was happy to find this pack of seal replacement plugs on Amazon..................This product was NOT given to me as part of any promotion. I bought it after doing some comparison shopping and this review is entirely the result of my own opinions and use of the product.

Instead of buying a new pressure cooker, change the rubber seal and it’ll go another round.

I'm about to buy one, and I just checked my Amazon history to verify that I bought my last one almost exactly a year ago. They fit and hold a seal like they should, but they're a bit pricy and don't seem to last as long as they should. This will be my 3rd gasket since I got my pressure cooker in about 06.*EDIT* You know, I don't think it's just a gasket issue. I started getting steam leaks not very long after getting this new one and was incredibly frustrated that a new gasket would already have given out. But I noticed my lid was not fitting as snuggly as it used to so I gently bent the "catches" on the lid down just a bit to fit tighter and it made all the difference in the world. I think these lower end Prestos loosen up with use and need to be bent back into place. As such, I'm upping my review from 3 stars to 4 for the gasket.

Both the plug and gasket was new and as described. The gasket will come in a sealed baggy but it is bunched up. So, make sure you wash the gasket before use to get the cutting oil off in hot water then put the gasket in the pressure cooker lid and allow to expand and relax in the lid. The rinse in hot water again and then lock the the lid to the pot and wait about 15 minutes. I then washed the gasket again in hot water and reset the gasket in the lid and it fix perfectly.You may not need to do all of the steps that I did but since it will come in a small bag you have to get this round rubber gasket to go back to its round shape and I did not want to wait so, I did the above and it works just fine without any problems. The plug was easy I just popped out the old one and put in the new one without any issues.Best of Luck - I hope this helps.

La descripción del producto es insuficiente, por eso le di solo 4 estrellas, pues fue incompatible con mi olla y lo tuve que devolver. No es compatible con ollas de presión Presto de aluminio fundido de 6 litros, pero supongo que habrá ollas de la misma marca y similar capacidad pero de otras características con las que sí es compatible. El hule se siente de buena calidad. La pieza pequeña no es una válvula indicadora como en otros modelos es un tapón sólido de hule.
