Westcott 29691 All-Purpose Rosewood Handle Letter Opener, 9 in

I had a problem with a late delivery - down to Royal Mail, not the seller, as it turns out who subsequently contacted me with an update (thank you for responding). This is not an expensive item and was delivered with free postage and really, unless you were out to make a statement or to give something as a gift, this is perfect for opening letters. It kind of has the look of a wooden handled steak knife, except the blade is double edged and whilst it is sharp enough to tackle any letters, it will not do you any harm. It is solidly made and looks in keeping, sitting on my wooden desk. I am very pleased with it.

Update oct 2022:Still have this, still razor sharp and performing great. Have avoided water, and wiped down any sticky residue immediately after use from envalope. No rust or noticeable wear and tear after years of fairly frequent use.2015:Arrived in reasonable time, for the price its good, works well as a letter opener nice and sharp with comfortable handle.

Got this an found one of the brass pins in the handle loose and came out not worth the hassel of sending back so little bit of glue sorted this problem out.Cheap an cheerfull this is

This letter opener was bought to replace my old letter opener which I unfortunately misplaced. (I say unfortunately because it was a letter opener handed over generations from my great great grandfather.) This letter opener came promptly however there was an issue regarding the packaging. The packaging was, in itself, a letter. This posed an issue due to the fact that I (just like most buyers) didn't have a letter opener. I would have thought this would be obvious due to the fact that I was purchasing a letter opener. And so, the package from this item is still waiting on my desk to be opened. I must say from the feel of the packaging, this is a lovely letter opener. I would recommend this to any buyer however I suggest you have a spare letter opener on hand in the likely event that this letter opener comes in a letter.

There's not much to say about a letter opener, but this one looks right, will probably last a lifetime and opens letters just like it should.
