Q: How thick is the boom?

Hi This is a heavy duty stand. I used it to hold my flash, 65in. Unbrella and other stuff. It holds. Plus I use this on weddings and quinceñeras is a great gear to have. Plus easy to asemble and carry. I am thinkkng about buying another one. So I can expand.

Q: what is the max weight the arm will hold?

The arm. Is a bit tricky. Broke the front light of my flash. If fully extended it can hold 5#. But if half extended 15#. You do need sand bags. Sand bags are not included. About 40 to 50 pounds needed.

Q: I don't understand why it comes with two Grip Heads... What good is it without another horizontal bar?

I use the second grip toward the front of the bar so I can add more devices like camera, lighting etc.
