Metal Slinger (Fire & Metal)

Deserves More Appreciation!
The ending... never saw it coming. It was beautifully crafted and heartbreaking- I must know more! The world building was top tier- got a Neverland meets Pirates of the Caribbean vibe for Alaha which was a break from the typical stone village with moody weather (we did get some of that towards the end). What made this book was that the timing was realistic without actually being determined. A huge portion of this book took place in close quarters, on a boat, in the middle of nowhere and it STILL was entertaining. Every chapter added a layer that built the world, the relationships, and the story like it SHOULD. There was very little filler which I find a lot of the BookTok recommendations have SO MUCH of. What a breath of fresh air. It was easy to read, it captures almost from page one, there's a fantastic ending. The characters are consistence but unpredictable. Really a chef's kiss for me. There's still a lot to uncover with this story and I'm eagerly waiting for more.

A fantastic read with a wild ending
⭐ Rating: 4/5🌶 Rating: 2 Slow Burn📖 Title: Metal Slinger✍️ Author: Rachel Schneider💭 My Thoughts:I had such a hard time putting this book down! I enjoyed the dialogue and chemistry between the FMC and the MMC and really loved the secondary characters. I think the plot and magic system were intruging and made for a really fun story. I also really loved the plot twist at the end, however I feel that there really werent any breadcrumbs leading up to that plot twist. Given that the story was in first person POV, the plot twist felt a little confusing.🔥 Favorite Quote:“I am a starving man, Jovie. Don’t appear without clothes again.”📝 Tropes:- Enemies to Lovers-Slow burn- Fated mates-Forces proximity- Forbidden romance-Found family

Captivating and unique
I feel the need to scream. WHAT WAS THAT ENDING?! Omg, I'm going to need several days to recover from this. I didn't see that coming at all. Nothing, nothing could prepare me for this. I was completely slack-jawed, I had to go back to check what I had written and I went to a friends messages to scream out this. And I loved every second of it.The story is well-crafted, the characters feel rounded and human, they make mistakes but they apologize and actually talk about them and despite the ominious feel I had in my chest, the story whisked me away and I loved my time with Brynn and Acker and everyone else and now I just need more. The pacing was good, the plot twists felt approriate to the story and the web of things was crafted beautifully.I just need to find out what happens next. I have so many questions, a lot of theories and anxiety over what happens to these babies next and how are we going to dig our way out of this entire mess?

A Spellbinding and Captivating Romantasy
I instantly fell in love! This one will not be leaving my head anytime soon, definitely a 6 star read for me! The magic bestowed on humans and the world building is on point, which makes this story so special, believable, and it just pulls you in. Rachel Schneider has written a spectacular novel, one I wish I could read again for the first time. Brynn is an outcast in her home, a self-proclaimed urchin, but knows she must do everything she can to save the people of her home. Jovie comes into her powers and has to work through the pain of her past and learn to trust in herself and her powers. Acker, as the Prince, finds his match and so much more than he was ever expecting. The minor characters are written in such a way that they stand out as the story would not be the same without them. The ending completely broke me, in the best way possible, bringing a completely unexpected twist into the story. I hope a second book in the series is coming soon, as I am completely entranced and yearning for more of this marvelous tale.

Best book of 2024
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌶️🌶️🌶️When I tell you I was not prepared for this book. I went in expecting the typical arcs and stuff for the genre. A lot of acotar, fourth wing knock offs. Which to be fair are interesting a lot of the time, but still. This book is not that. It is better. It's original, completely unique, taking several tropes and twisting them to be entirely their own.I've seen people relate it to Quicksilver, but I found that it was much more captivating. The FMC was very relatable in her circumstances, and never got the damsel in distress vibe while also not immediately mastering her abilities. The MMC was the right amount of mysterious and flawed. The "miscommunication" felt less like a plot trope and more of a realistic hesitancy to share information with a stranger you've been stuck with given the circumstances. The "slow burn" was actually what I'd consider a normal pace for a relationship, and the spice was very well done. It didn't feel forced like a lot of books and it wasn't overly graphic while at the same time scratching the romance itch a lot of books overdo. It was definitely a fantasy with romance similar to tog instead of romance with a side of fantasy. The world building was captivating and I don't believe I've ever read something so unique. From the actual setting which is relatable though still not been done before that I've seen, to the complex magic system and the rules and regulations that come along with it.At the same time it didn't feel like an information dump of world building with maps and telling the reader xyz. I felt as the character did learning everything. It felt very organic. If I could give it more than five stars I would. I am never surprised anymore when it comes to books, I've read about a book a day for two or three years, sometimes multiple a day and I usually don't leave reviews because they all aren't unique and stand out.I feel and hope this series goes a long way! I wish the author and her family the best. It's going to be a duology and at the time of writing this the second one has been delayed to a life changing event in the authors life (found on socials)While I normally am super impaitent with waiting for releases I hope Rachel takes all the time she needs in her process while staying healthy and taking the time she needs. I'll be here (somewhat paitently) waiting for the conclusion and I know it's going to be as great as this one.You knocked it out of the park girl!!!! Congratulations!!!
