Great product

Our learning challenged 11 year old son just entered the sixth grade, dreaded middle school. He thought joining the robotics club would be a fun way of meeting other students but it didn't work out quite that way. After many attempts at working within a group, he was hurt and disillusioned. My husband and I decided to purchase the necessary pieces for our son to work on his own. Wow, are we glad we did. You cannot go wrong with Legos. Our son has spent countless hours building amazing, intricate robots. We never knew he had such skills. We have even incorporated Legos into learning basic algebra (perimeter, area, surface, volume etc..). To see our son put his ideas into practice is the most fulfilling and heartwarming feeling we have as parents.

Got the motors in shortest time frame and well worth the investment.

Standard large motor for EV3. They work until they don't...

We all knew that the Lego products works well, I just add up a spare motor for my son's project.

We've purchased at least a dozen of these motors in our various EV3 kits and as individual units like this one. The motors fail pretty quickly after a few months of FIRST LEGO League competition, so expect to be buying all new units at the beginning of a season, or every semester for classroom use. The aggravating thing is that they gradually fail, getting less and less accurate over time, and a set of two motors will fail at different rates so you'll always need to make sure to have matched pairs and swap them out together. For the price, I would have expected the quality to be higher, closer to an industrial part than a toy, but I'm guessing the margin structures are such that they need to source low-quality components to build these.
