Fun crafting idea for young kids
Review for: ‘Foil Art Fun & Craft Kit for Kids:Unicorns & Princesses - DIY Creative Activity Set for Girls 3-6 Years - Birthday Gifts Presents for Girls & Boys Ages 4 5 6 7 8 Travel Toys’I’ve reviewed a few craft kits for young kids and this is the first time I’ve seen a foil art kit. It’s a great idea that will appeal to them, and they’ll find it very satisfying because they can create colourful pictures quickly. Included in the kit are the craft book, 80 colourful foil sheets, and a plastic stylus. The book is 2-in-1, the right-hand pages making up a foil art book, and the left-hand pages a colouring book. There are, in addition to the back and front covers, 16 sheets of double-sided card pages – on the front of each is a black and white drawing that has shapes pre-cut into the top layer of paper, that when peeled off reveal a white sticky area onto which the gold foil sheets are rubbed using a finger or the plastic stylus to create a foil painting. The stickers are quite difficult to peel off and younger children may need help. On the back of the same page, there is a line drawing of the foil painting which can be coloured in – colour pencils are not included. There are instructions inside the front cover for completing the foil art and instructions inside the back cover for completing the colouring. The price at the time of writing is £10.99 and there is a voucher for a 20% discount – with the discount it’s a good deal.

Lots of fun. Great present.
This foil arts crafts kit was a brightly coloured fun activity to do. The instructions might be a little tricky for very young children to easily follow, at least initially, but once they got the hang of it, making the pictures was a lot of fun. I would recommend that this would be more a parent and child activity (which is great!), to help avoid disappointment if your child tries by themselves, as some of the sticky patches were tricky to remove, until you got the knack of it. Although it seems to be aimed more towards girls, since it has unicorns and mermaids in it, anyone who likes sparkles is sure to get a lot of enjoyment out of it.At £9.88 I think it’s reasonable value for money and would make an excellent present for someone.

Lots of pages
I got this as a small birthday present for my niece as she likes foil art stuff, I didn't get to look through the pages themselves but it was a decently chunky book with plenty of pages so theres lots of art and options to chose fromShe really likes the book and has had lots of fun with it since she received it

An okay product.
You can’t go wrong with art and craft presents for children. This one isn’t quite what I was expecting and, thinking of my 4 year old grandson, I think he’d struggle with it unless he had quite a lot of adult help. Not that he’d be interested since it’s definitely aimed at girly girls.Positives: Well made from strong, good quality card and spiral bound. The cards are double sided; one side for the foil and the reverse side for colouring in. Lots of foil provided. More than one child can participate if the picture is removed from the spiral pad. Plenty of foil.Negatives: Although there is plenty of foil, the overwhelming colours are gold and purple, not an equal number of each colour. No colouring pencils included. It’s a very gender stereotypical item. For me, this is an okay product that doesn’t quite reach its potential. The uneven number of foil colours, the very basic drawings and the gender stereotyping make this something that I wouldn’t buy.

An instant hit.
This is an unusual craft book of a type I hadn't seen before but my three grandchildren, aged 3, 7 and 12, all enjoyed it. Each page of the book has a foil art picture on one side and a picture to colour in on the opposite page. For the foil art you remove parts of the picture which leaves a sticky residue behind, place the colour foil you want to use on this and gently rub it with your finger or the included wooden stick then lift away the rest of the foil. It can be a little fiddly removing the parts that need foil especially for younger children under five, and my youngest grandson who is autistic preferred the colouring page best with the foil page he would point to which foil he wanted and where it needed to go and either his older sister or his mum would place it for him. The older two children really enjoyed the book as it was a new activity for them to try. I think for the quality of this and the playability across a wide range of ages that it is well priced, I would have said it was more for 5yrs + without parental help though, still it deserves it's five stars.
