Works good!
As with all my other PurePlus filters, I'm very happy with this - it has reduced the amount of black manganese and iron buildup in my toilet bowl. I think it uses KDF media - so after a couple of months, I open up the filter (unscrew the cap) and pour out the media into a bowl where I many backwash (rinse it) until the water runs clear. My first rinse - the water was very black and after a minute or so, it was clear again and ready to use again. You can buy new KDF media to replace what is there at certain intervals but this media is made to be backwashed for a long service life.

Falls apart/ makes a mess
Filtered well but only for a few hours , it fell apart and emptied it's contents as soon as I went to remove it from the housing . Maybe tape it together before I'm installing it 🤮
A**.
Did nothing to clear up my yellow water.
My well water is yellow more than a month after acid treatment. I bought this to filter out the iron and it had very little effect at all. The best thing that I found that really worked was a .2 micron filter but that thing only worked for about 20 minutes and then could not filter anymore.

Solid Piece of Filter
This filter looks like a high-quality piece. I currently use a Campbell S810 water filter. I think this will be a good replacement for that.

Very impressive so far!
I got this whole house iron & manganese filter for wells by PUREPLUS to use in my 10" x 4.5" housing. It is designed with resin granules to not only reduce iron and manganese, but it also reduces sediment, sand, and other impurities down to .01ppm. This filter is visually exceptional looking with a solid exterior and removes heavy metals and other harmful substances. While this filter can "do it all" with a single filter, I always use a spin-down filter and a series of inexpensive "pre-filters" in order to catch most of the sediment before it even reaches this relatively more expensive resin filter. That way, I get better filtration longer. How this particular filter holds up in real life remains to be seen, but I won't know until it has been in service for months. As a preliminary observation, this is a very impressive and high quality filter. So far, so good!Review for: PUREPLUS 10" x 4.5" RFN10BB-SZ Whole House Iron & Manganese Reduce Water Filter Replacement Cartridge, 1 Pack 2407-014

Well made ... BUT
I have whole house filter systems in my house, workshop and greenhouse. Wouldn't be without them. This filter is very well made but I have conflicting information between the description and the manual instructions. The description says 30000 gallon life (depending on water quality). The manual clearly says on the 3rd page under "Frequently Asked Questions, to replace the filter every 4000 gallons. On the second page it says it's good for 30000 gallons. Which is the right number?? It really annoys me when this happens. This is really something they need to address/correct.Unlike most filter media of this type that uses the entire outside of the filter media to let water pass through, this filter only allows water to enter the filter from the bottom. Unusual but I've seen it before. I have always found this design to reduce water flow faster than the normal filter designs. As the water enters the filter it starts getting full of contaminates from the bottom up. Many times these get plugged up sooner than the other type because the entrance for the water is about 10 times smaller than a regular filter. I have seen and experienced it first hand. That doesn't mean it doesn't work well, it means it might not last as long. Maybe there is something to that recommendation in the manual to replace this every 4000 gallons?I had falsely assumed that the outer shell of this filter was a porous ceramic shell. It isn't. It's solid plastic - which explains the bottom only water entrance. All that said, this IS a very good filter and will in all probability, serve me well.Good deal for a good filter. Easy to recommend.

Nice fit and seems to work well.
I've never had our water tested, so I don't know which minerals we need to be reducing, but I do know that our dishes smell fishy whenever we aren't using a good quality filter. This is a good quality filter in my book since it has eliminated the fish smell for the time being. It's a good indicator of when they wear out when the smell comes back. The fit is just right for my springwell system. It was easy to change out and hasn't leaked or anything. The design is different in that it doesn't filter through the sides of the filter. It seems to have reduced our water pressure a little bit and I suspect that is the reason. It's not enough to not use it though.Highly recommend. Especially for the price.

Good quality filter
Fits well with the GE whole house filter. Able to effectively filter out the sediments. Great price for the good quality product.
