The Atom Egoyan Collection [Blu-ray]

I won't review all the films in this collection, suffice to say that this is a beautiful upgrade from DVD and well worth buying. It nearly got 4 stars because of the lack of extras on some of the films but that would be churlish of me. If, like me, you enjoy esoteric films a la Lynch etc this collection is very highly recommended.

Nice collection, but no subtitles at all. At least english subtitles would have been nice, especially for “Calendar“ where also the Armenian spoken parts are not subtitled...

It’s great finally having these early films by Canadian filmmaker Egoyan on blu-ray. NOTE that these are Region B, and so will only play on Region-free players, but these are great films with lots of extras (including his early shorts, such as PEEP SHOW and OPEN HOUSE), and other extras that had appeared on DVD.

The early films of the Atom Egoyan collection depict strange worlds and require a lot of patience that is not always rewarded. But Atom Egoyan hits his stride with "Exotical" and "The Sweet Hereafter." "Exotical" is hypnotic and mysterious and "The Sweet Hereafter" vividly depicts the tolls of the aftermath of a tragedy. They alone make the collection worthwhile.
