Helped understand the severity of a leak.
Amending my review to tell this story. I woke up to the sound of running water and a dripping noise and found my ceiling is leaking again. I submitted another ticket to my apartment complex and then thought I should give the thermal camera a try and I am very glad I did as it showed that the leak was much worse than it seemed. It is crazy just how cheap good thermal can be. I bought this to play around with because I think it's neat and I keep thinking of new ways to use it like seeing when my cast iron skillet heats up. The app is functional but nothing fancy. I think this would make a great gift for someone who has everything since they probably don't know this exists and it's neat to play around with. It's also really nice that it just plugs in and works (once you download the correct app which I did not do at first). The only negatives for me is the lack of a case and the shutter events but most thermal cameras will do that.

Best low-cost IR cam
This is my 2nd IR camera for use in our house to find heat leaks.Seek has competitively innovated on both hardware and software to provide a comparatively high-resolution small-sized camera that has been able to confirm all suspected and uncover new thermal leaks in our home. Thank you Seek!I'll probably get the next model up soon...

A big leap in technology and value
The media could not be loaded. This is a great tool for a lot of people and I think the lower price will help it be a more accessible technology than before. Prior to this unit I had the seek reveal, which by comparison is far behind in technology. There were some benefits to a standalone device, but this new Nano 300 has significantly higher resolution, more thermal filters, video recording capability, and is just a small device that simply plugs into your phone.Packaging and the device build quality is admittedly a drop since the reveal. Although probably more environmentally friendly the device ships in a small black ink on regular cardboard box and the spare case that came with this looked really cheap and is totally not worth $25. I could probably 3D print something nearly identical.I have noticed that the sensor does not handle cold temperatures or temperature accuracy like other (older) units. So the image looks better, but determining an exact temperature isn't as good on this model.I am glad they have a new app for this. There were lot of concerns about privacy and the permissions required for the app, but the required permissions make sense to me for what is required (Android requires access to your photos for it to save photos from the app for example). If you don't want to use the microphone permission you can deny that, but I imagine this impacts how the videos come out.Overall I am happy with the new camera! I do want them to make improvements to the app to compete more with FLIR (a kind of overlay that uses your regular camera to make out more details would be handy for example). Also some models better handle colder temperatures and temperature accuracy for a similar price.

The pictures are much better than older models
i upgraded to this unit to get clearer pictures. It has been well worth it. I am catching small leaks much more reliably. I also bought the close up lens which has made it possible to diagnose very small overheating spots.

Falls out of the USB-c port and the app is buggy
This device has pretty nice imaging for the size and price, but sadly it just won't stay in the phone jack. Maybe the apple lightning version works better, but it's almost useless on my Google pixel. If I move the phone even slightly, it loses connection or falls entirely out. The app is also really buggy and requires restarts - not convenient when out in the field at night. I wish I had returned it.

Faulty work revealed
Great product. For me it's valuable because it shows where I need to fix insulation issues. We just bought a new house (first owners), and I discovered a missing insulation batt in the high wall section (accessible through the attic). So right there it has begun to pay for itself. And it has shown other cold areas that I will get to sometime in the future.I am mostly using it for fixing insulation issues, but have also checked some wiring projects. It showed a somewhat high temperature reading where I plugged in my car charger, which led me to hardwire the charger instead. All in all, a very useful tool.

Have to reinstall it every time I use it
When it works, its great but the problem is that after shutting it down I can't get it to restart unless I uninstall and reinstall the app. I just get a black screen. This is just a major pain in the neck. I don't want to return it, I want it to work but it just doesn't. I guess I have another week before I have to decide but it's not looking good.

Durable, Quality and Fun Camera!
Love this nano 300 cam! I got it for my dad to use it with his Samsung and noticed that when I downloaded the seek nano app it works great with my iPhone 15 as well! The USB-C connection is seamless and plugs in snuggly. Great image quality, durable, and easy to carry around on my keys so I can just plug it in to get a quick temp reading of my spa, stove, grill, or really anything else. I’ve honestly even dropped the camera a couple times and it still works perfect. I’ve tried some other thermal cameras but this one is by far the best.
