Effective and easily rechargeable in microwave
These are fantastic for a gun safe where I placed two of the packets. I have a recording electronic hygrometer in the safe so I can see what the humidity level is over time. There is clearly a spike in humidity levels when I open the door, letting room air into the safe. After closing the door, the humidity level comes down nicely. The beads turn pink when saturated and can be easily heated in a microwave following the instructions on the package (low for 30 seconds to 2 minutes). The goal is not to "boil" off the water, but to heat up the beads to the point where there ability to absorb moisture is less than the surrounding air humidity levels. Silica beads lose their ability to absorb moisture as they are heated - they DO NOT need to be heated to the temperature of boiling water. I've noticed that 2-3 times in the microwave (around 1:30 at low, letting them cool down each time) is needed when they are very saturated, but still much more efficient than using a conventional oven.

Keep your cameras dry!
I have a nice HD video camera, but when the humidity is high, moisture gets in it and builds up in the lens assembly. that causes light streaking and a haze in the image under stadium lights at night. To fix this, and hopefully help prevent it from setting in quickly, I keep one of these large packs of silica gel in a large zipper bag, and store my camera in that bag.It isn't fancy, or pretty to look at, but it works. Just take the silica pack out when it starts changing color, and bake it in the oven or zap in microwave (according to the directions) and you can dry it out or "recharge" it to go back to work for you.

Does what it’s supposes to do
Performs as described. The packets are easy to use and slip into the storage area without taking up much space. I opened a storage bin recently and there was no musty smell, so they must be absorbing.

It appears to work just fine drying out barrels of stuff I have.

Silica gel packet
These are a great size..a very good value..... not rechargeable in oven. It fell apart in oven...but rechargeable in microwave. Approximately 1 to 2 minutes on half power, per packet.. still an Excellent product!!

Tyvek Packaging Will Fail During Reactivation
My recommendation to others is to not purchase. The product works well when it's just fresh out of the package but here's what I've noted below.1. The labeling says these are 120g packets but by my gram scale they are actually 107g so you are getting shorted 10% product.2. The glue on the Tyvek packaging will fail if you attempt to reactivate the desiccant following the maker's oven instructions. Two hours in the oven at 220 degrees is enough to fail the glue.3. Microwave reactivation per the instructions on the package is ineffective. I weighed the bag before and after microwaving following the instructions and noted that the weight didn't change. It took 17 min @ 10% power to effect a 6g reduction in moisture.4. Microwaving even at the very lower power setting will cause the bag to puff up like a bag of popcorn stressing the Tyvek seams.5. The outer foil packaging the product came in will not retain a vacuum seal which means unused bags will not necessarily be fresh when you use them.
