This shaker container is awesome...so handy! I'm so glad I decided to order it along with the bag of ice melter ahead of winter-time this season...for once, I was well-prepared! It is practical, useful, and efficient in its purpose. I really like how it sprinkles ice melter evenly and not excessively. Along with the green granules in the brand of ice melter I bought...it was just perfect for sufficient coverage on the icy sidewalks. Fun to use...as fun as sprinkling ice melt can get in the brrrr cold of winter! Thanks for the chance to review...I really do recommend this product to others! :)

This item is awesome! It's been so nice to not struggle with trying to use a scoop to spread the salt this year. It works as designed. The holes are perfect size, and let just the right about of salt out. It should last for years, unless you drop it in freezing temps when it's full...

I waited to review.. only use this once a year to toss salt out. Well, it works pretty good, a little flimsy and salt will clog but hey it works, then sits I. The shelf for several months so it’s practical and functional.

Okay, I think I originally ordered this just to have something but what I learned was it saves me money.I spread way less than what I previously did with a paper cup. The spread is even and enough to properly cover the area.Highly recommend! It’s convenient, neat and sturdy.

I purchased this to use for salting my driveway and sidewalks in the Chicago area (can get pretty icy/snowy here). I haven’t had to use it much yet but can tell already it was a waste of money for this application.Using this the first time, I ended up refilling it (not with ease) multiple times, wasting salt spilled trying to get it in the small opening, and then in the end didn’t even put the top back on for last few runs because I had difficulties getting the salt to come out/spread unless the whole top was off. So in that case, might as well use a large cup or bowl from the kitchen or something, same effect anyways.With the top on, I barely got done with about 2-3 sidewalk squares and it was empty not tomention took way longer than it should have. With the top off, about 1-2 sidewalk squares and mostly concentrated in one pile.After this I found in my garage a gallon container I bought last year which had salt in it and was close to this price. Now I buy bigger bags of salt bc these size containers aren’t a good value for the salt, but buying one would be a better idea in my opinion than this spreader; it holds 2x as much as this little thing and the holes on top spin the same etc. and actually distribute the salt easier than this container. Then use the salt in it and keep refilling with salt from the big bags for your dispenser, not this.It probably is perfect for spreading weed n feed or seeding grass and fertilizer or whatnot; winter salt I think is bigger pellets/tends to clump if it gets moist, etc. so the holes on the top naturally just don’t fit most of the salt inside. Also, I think more salt is needed per square area than fertilizer, so I wouldn’t recommend paying for this for use in winter ice or snow.I gave 3 stars though bc like I said, for fertilizer or seeding grass, it is likely a better use of the product and is probably what it’s meant for. If it was sold only as a salt spreading item, I would have given less stars.

This spreads the seeds just right. My garden turned out well.

Great little dispenser that we bought for spreading salt on our front walk for the ice and snow. It is smaller than a gallon jug, which may irritate some people, but we only need a this size for our smaller area that needs salted in the winter. We bought the "huge" bucket of calcium chloride from Sam's Club, and then filled this container when needed. This is just a side note: If you want to buy calcium chloride instead of sodium chloride (regular salt) for your walkway/driveway, Sam's Club has the best deal going. The price is great, and it actually IS calcium chloride. If you look at the ingredients on some of these other bags that have "calcium chloride" written in big letters, you will find out that for the majority of them, there is actually more sodium chloride than calcium chloride in the container! Was sooo not happy when I found this out, Check it out for yourself. You will see that the first ingredient listed will be sodium chloride...grrrr.

As noted by others, there is no way to close the cap. If you knock it over you have snow melt (Safe Paw Ice Melter 35 Lbs/Pail) where you knock it over. We have located ours where knocking it over somewhat adds to the snow melt distribution but I wish it has a sliding mechanism to close off the holes. That said, it is pretty useful. We purchase a large bucket of snow melt and then use this to scoop out what we need for the front and back doors. It was cheap which is a big benefit when you need more than one.

Me gustó: Antes esparcía semillas a mano y no quedaba un pasto homogéneo, con este envase las semillas se esparcen mejor, también lo uso con abono en pellets, el mango ergonómico y las perforaciones en la tapa hacen que la salida de producto sea fácil y puedo arrojarlo más lejos. Buen tamaño para proyectos de jardinería DIY.No me gustó: el plástico no parece tan resistente al sol, el mango es un poquito delicado y se ha doblado algunas veces cuando viene el envase junto con la herramienta, es mejor transportarlo por separado.Recomendado en relación calidad-precio, buena compra.

Very good salt dispenser for fast deicing of my driveway and front side walk. Because of the size of the dispenser it gets the job done fast.

I should have checked the size it’s a little small for the area I need to cover but it works

I like how easy it is to use...distributes salt nicely and keeps my hands clean.
