Fidgety fun
The media could not be loaded. I wasn't sure which type of cone would turn up when ordering this for review. It turns out, you get all three. They're 3D printed; one section in black, the other in a pearlescent finish which is pink through to yellow depending on the angle. Three cones, six pieces. The pieces aren't interchangeable; each coloured cone corresponds to one black cone only.Starting with the most disappointing one: the cotton reel. This is disappointing only because it's difficult to get the coloured piece to run through the black one, but with a lot of use it should wear and move through much more readily. The next two are as fun as each other. One is a round-based cone, the other a triangle-based pyramid. In both cases you can lift the coloured piece out of the black piece then drop the black piece on top, or vice versa. Put one piece upside down and it doesn't matter; they'll still mesh and they'll still run through each other. In both cases when everything's the right way up it's easier to drop the black on the colour than the colour on the black. If you or a family member like fidget toys, these should provide a lot of fun. My niece loves them.

A trio of attractive fidget toys - but rather roughly-made
This trio of fidget toys is supplied in a small, plain, white card box - sadly, with no coloured illustrations or information which would make this set a more attractive gift for someone. Having seen some similar 3D-printed fidget toys around in the office, my first impression was that these were somewhat roughly made. Only one of the toys slid though the other part without getting stuck ... or perhaps getting them to slide properly is part of the fun...? After working them back and forth many times to remove burrs from the plastic, I gave up and passed the set over to our son - who then spent several hours working on them before they would slide through each other smoothly. A pity... because these are bright and attractive small toys which would be SO much more interesting if only they operated smoothly.

Needs practice to get the most out of them
I had no idea what to expect when I ordered this set, and got a pleasant surprise when it arrived. I used to collect (and make) novelties, conjuring tricks and oddities, and this would have become part of the collection. No information is supplied, but it's fun finding out what you can do and, a bit later, how much more is possible than you originally thought. The set contains a cone, a pyramid and a cylinder, each with two components which can be passed through each other. The cylinder was disappointing as this process is far from smooth and gives little pleasure. The cone and pyramid, however, work very smoothly, and it's only necessary to drop the centre piece through and the weight will let it fall out the other end...or, if you know what you are doing, not. I used to use items from my collection in data protection training courses, and the cone and cylinder would have been an excellent demonstration of data security - the sight of the fluid operation would stick in the mind. A good training aid, therefore, as well a delight to handle. How to make the useless (and rather silly) useful. Great fun.

A curiosity more than a toy
I saw an advert for one of these on X a few weeks ago and didn't think it would take long for it to be offered for review on the Vine programme. They are very well engineered, Fairly standard 3D printed pieces, but these have been done quite well. The cone and the 3 sided pyramid work flawlessly and the coloured piece (which has a very nice pearlescent effect) falls through the black frame piece very smoothly in all directions. The cylinder piece doesn't fall through - you have to kind of coax it through... but pushing directly down doesn't help as it needs a slight twist, so is a little awkward. Whether this is a fault in print or inherent in this design I don't know, but either way they are very well crafted pieces which amazed my 5 year old seeing these shapes falling through each other.
