A very nice set. Highly recommended
Now I'm not a serial reviewer, but when I was looking for a quality knife set I found the lack of reviews on this knife set a little worrying. I have therefore decided to pass on my experiences.Firstly, I am not a professional chef, but got so fed up with old blunt knives I decided to splash out a little more.I looked at the globals, Wusthofs, Henckels and some Japanese knife sets, but decided they were generally much too expensive. My girlfriend pointed these out to me and I immediately liked the look of the blades and handles. The Damascus look is very pretty, though in reality I'm not sure it adds any functionality.Being a bit of a geek I looked into them a little more and found they use a steel called VG-10. This appears to be a mainly Japanese steel which is reknowned for its edge retention and is regarded as a bit of a 'super steel'. When I looked at other VG-10 knife sets the prices went astronomical. So, I took the plunge and bought the set. What can I say? they are extremely sharp and make food prep an absolute doddle. The enjoyment factor from using them is great enough, but I also raise a smile when I walk past them in the kitchen they are so pretty. I have been using them for about a month now and there appears to be no loss of sharpness. I suppose time will tell, but looking at other knives made from this steel I think they should be good for a long while. You also get a sharpener with it, which adds to the value even more.If I had one criticism it would be that a Santoku knife isn't included in the set. To buy these seperately it is quite expensive. I would have rather paid a straight £300 for this set with the extra knife. All in all a small complaint and I will definately be buying that knife individually.I think this is the best quality:value ratio set on the market right now.

No Block
Great knives but didn't arrive as advertised. Came in a roll instead of the block.

Superb set - well worth the cost
Just as John commented on 26 Mar. 2013, I am not a chef or regular reviewer but have to say this knife set is superb. All the knives supplied are razor sharp as you would expect and have a seriously good weight to them - the Damasus steel used can't really be commented on in 3 weeks of use, but I really think it's going to last. Every cut in the kitchen over the last few weeks has been has been a doddle. Each knife handle is made from a very grippy rubberised material with a barely visable molding seal - this doesn't seem to be a cheap process and I can imagine very long durability. Beautifully designed set, and so far well worth the money. the magnetic block is excellent (lots more space / slots) than is required for the supplied set of knives - you can add currently owned knives or buy additional which I intend to do. Looks fantastic, as do the knives. All in all if you're after a professional grade set of knives this is one of the best available. No issues recommending them to anyone either for home or pro use.

Oh so good, light enough to be comfortable but perfectly balanced ...
Oh so good, light enough to be comfortable but perfectly balanced and I absolutely love the quality and this set and the Santoku knife have allowed me to rationalise my vast knife collection and with the magnetic block these lovely knives are stored for ease of use and safety!

What can one say - excellent. Just watch your fingers and keep well out of the way of little ones.

Super sharp knives
I never imagined that my new set of Naifu knives could give me such a new boost of enthusiasm for cooking and experimenting with different recipes! They are exceptionally sharp, well balanced and have a great grip which gives me confidence to use them at speed. So its Goodbye to my trusty but tired old Sabatiers and Welcome to Naifu!

help you to chop like a professional
I treated myself to a set of these knives when I saw a glowing review of them in The Times and I am so happy that I did. They look good, they are well balanced, they have a really comfortable grip but most importantly they are brilliantly sharp. Not included in every set but two knives which I added afterwards and which I think are excellent are the Saduko knife and the bread knife. I have seen the Saduko knife being used by chefs on television and with it I too can chop like a professional. I think it is the must-have kitchen utensil for 2013! And the bread knife makes buying sliced bread obsolete.olivia
