Helpful and heartfelt
I grew up with Jess and what I did not realize as a self-centered teen was the battle that she faced every single day. Fast forward to last November and my niece was being flown to a children's hospital in critical condition. She was in DKA with a new diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes about a month before her 3rd birthday. I purchased this book before we even were checked out of the hospital. The information Jess shared is practical, helpful and as easy to understand as T1D can be. Jess thank you for being vulnerable and using your difficult experiences to help others. <3

Must have book for newly diagnosed type1 child
Our 2 year old son was taken to PICU on December 24th he was DKA, it was extremely scary for me and my wife (who just gave birth to our 3rd son 4 weeks earlier). Neither of us have ever dealt with type 1 or new anything about it. Neither of our families have history of it. Not knowing what to do and being very scared I purchased EVERY book available on Amazon that talks about type 1. This book was by far the absolute best. Jessica teaches through her personal experiences and it felt like she was walking us through step by step. This book brought comfort to me and my wife and in the past couple weeks we have referenced it many times. It currently sits at our little station with our log books. This book is an absolute must have for any parent or even family member that will be assisting with a type 1 child. Jessica thank you, this book has truly changed our life and how we are handling these new changes. God bless you and your family!

Caring and supportive Grandpa.
Thank-you Jessica for writing such a great book that is short, easy to read, informative, sympathetic, encouraging and motivating. Our 10 year old grand-daughter was just diagnosed with T1D one week before she started middle school. a huge surprise and shock to her, her parents, and us. The immediate care and ongoing care and technology are all great ...... but your book added to that with insights and knowledge from one who has lived through it all ..... so again many many thanks.

Great information
Bought this book for a friend of mine who has a son newly diagnosed with t1dI read it before giving it to see if it was worth it. I loved and thought it was very insightful and thoughtful. Helped me understand and a lot of what she was going through and helped me better support her. Her 13 year old son also read it and enjoyed relating to it.

Good place to start with a new patient and patients family
At the beginning it's all about getting information you can relay on. This is great for just that. It's 4 generations of diabetics in both sides of my family. When some one else gets a child diagnosed this is my first choice of a where to start guide even for an informed family like mine.

Excellent read!
I truly enjoyed this book. As a Type 2 diabetic, I recently had my youngest great nephew diagnosed with Type 1. I am trying to rally the family to provide the support he and his parents will need. He is 13 years old and has been able to independently check his blood sugar and give himself insulin! I am proud of him and told him that. Now that I read this book, I will decide whether to send a copy to him/parents. Feeling very positive about doing just that!

Perfect quick read
This book was insightful without being too informative. But if you want more information she gives you websites to visit to answer your question. I found this very helpful and friendly. Thank you so much Jessica for writing this. I know my daughter will be reading this book in a few years and getting a bunch out of it. Thank from the bottom of my ❤. From a new T1D parent

Not Fact Based
I really misunderstood what this book would help me to do. Being newly diagnosed most of what the doctors said regarding my son went right over my head, so I was looking for details on how to manage diabetes. It didn't do that for me, focused more on feelings and personal experience which is NOT what I was looking for.

Okay. Depending on what you are looking for
Book was okay. My lil guy goes diagnosed a few months back. Hoped this book would be a good easy simple read for grandparents and caregivers. Unfortunately more about her personal experiences but not enough “useable” info.Still had some insights. Better as a book to borrow than buy
