ShakespeareMicro Spinning Rod

I bought this due to some reviews on YouTube in particular. They suggested it as a fantastic twitching rod and I have to say that I was so happy with this purchase. It is by far my favorite rod for twitching small K tails, as well as jerk baits when fishing for largemouth. The rod has plenty or backbone & stiffness when you are fighting a fish, but great action on the tip for setting hooks and getting the lure you are using to get the desired action.It is comfortable to hold and use for longer days and pairs really well with a Daiwa Revros 1000. The actual price is just a huge bonus given the the ability of this rod when using lures. The 2 piece design also makes it more functional for transportation when needed. I would recommend the 7' light power rod as the action on it is ideal and not noodle like

Seems to be solid so far. Very maneuverable on tree lined shores which is why I got the short length. Have not caught any monsters yet. Just some bluegill for an hour this evening before the rain. Had no problem in setting the hook. Pairs up well with a Shimano FX 1000 and 4 lb. mono.

Returning this product, it broke when I was stringing it right at the eyelet I’ve never received such garbage from Shakespeare in my life. I’ve had Shakespeare most of my life. I got a 5054 year-old fly rod. I’ll be glad to send you a picture of it if you wanna see it. Going to call Shakespeare and ask for a replacement.

I got the 7' light version. The older models of this line of rods had an additional line guide (7 instead of the current version's 6) and that's a bit of a disappointment - the 7 guides seem to give a more even pressure spread than the 6. This rod, while listed as "light" works for ultra-light applications and has both a parabolic curve to the action and enough stiffness to work for "twitching" applications as well as simple retrieve and float fishing, making it a very good, inexpensive multi-purpose rod.Inexpensive rods usually suffer in the "feel". They frequently lack sensitivity, taking away the fun of the fight. Not so with this one - it's a lot of fun to use.

I've owned a lot of rods over the years and I was surprised by this one. I wanted a 7' rod with a very light action for panfish and the occasional trout.This is exactly what I wanted. This was to replace my favorite rod which finally gave up after many years. After getting this one I went back to order another one.

If you want to be able to tell if that's a branch your lure just passed over or a big branch then you don't want this rod . It's sensitive but not ultra sensitive. Using braided line helps but there are others out there that are much more sensitive . I can tell the difference between a bite and a rock but I probably have missed many fish because I misread the feel .If you want to cast your 1/16oz lure 50 yards you don't want this rod . If 15 yards will do this is a real bargain and this thing is a real treat .I paired my 1st one with a Zoom by Piscifun in a 500 size and it's balanced nicely . Not quite as balanced as my 4'6" ultralight Uglystik G2 with Lews Laser Lite size 20 but not bad at all .I have 2 of these and both seem to be about the same in quality and both arrived safely .The one in the photo is paired with a different brand reel but looks and feels about the same in hand .I plan on using this combo along banks that are difficult to get a decent cast with my baitcasters due to brush and cover .I like this rod so much I ordered a 4-6 ultralight for when I go wading in Swift Creek and such .Edit I took the day to go fishing just to compare rods . Baitcaster vs spinner reels but all the spinner rods being Micro Series be it 5'6"light vs light baitcaster or 4'6" ultralight vs 6' ultralight baitcaster .All 3 of the Micro Series that I own held their own against their contenders . The lights worked apples to apples except in sensitivity where the others won by a huge margin . Distance , accuracy , flex were ties . With the ultralight contest the Micro came within a couple of yards in distance cast but giving up 18" I actually give that win to the Shakespeare . Accuracy and flex were close but the much shorter one was harder to get as accurate but I'm sure in a few more trips that'll be equal as well .I'll be honest out of the plethora of rod and reel combos I have my new favorite is the 4'6" ultralight Micro Series rod and the reel I put on it . That thing will work anywhere I decide to go fishing and will cast anything I normally use as I very rarely go above 3/16 oz on my lures.

I haven’t fished it, yet, but it seems promising. After reading the horror story reviews, I was relieved that it arrived without the tip poking through the box. Upon opening the box, I found the rod securely wrapped in bubble-wrap, with dead air space filled with wadded paper.One reviewer commented on the lack of a lock piece for the reel seat. I figured out where the threads would rest when tightened, and put a couple of turns of Teflon tape around the area. I’m betting it never moves.My impression of components used is favorable...I’m impressed by the price, so I ordered a 7’ light action model. (This one is a 2-piece 5’ rod). I’m looking forward to using them, soon.I have received the 7’ two piece Light rod, and the packaging was solid.

I put 6 pound braided line and took it out fishing. A turtle went for my top water lure and the rod snapped trying to retrieve it. I’m sure this rod will hold up on small fish species and small bass, but didn’t get the chance to try.
