I have 2 west highland terriers, one of whom has a yeast problem and therefore she cannot eat much/if any carbohydrates as these types of food turn into sugar, which in turn makes the yeast in her system worse. I therefore purchase Acana because it is grain free but also free from potato and sweet potato, all of which my Molly cannot/should not eat but is bulked instead with butternut squash (yes this has carbohydrates much not as much as potato or sweet potato). Both my pooches also get oven cooked chicken or meat with the Acana. At the end of the day dogs require/need quite a high protein diet - after all they are predominantly carnivores and not omnivores like us humans.
