Not the best value, but looks like it will be FUN!
I got this a a Christmas gift for my 13 year old and 3 year old sons to share. My older boy is more than capable of assembling this and the experience will teach his younger sibling (who will almost certainly be restricted to only watching the build) what goes into building something from a kit (as opposed to from scratch, like I often do things). This kit is clearly not the best value. Lots of cheap plastic and underwhelming controller, engine and electronics are probably "blameable" on much of the cost going into "licensing," but this does promise to be fun for the three of us.I doubt it would last past a fast crash with a wall or other immovable object, so I will make sure they drive it only where there is ample room.I wish there were more and even better detailed models in this scale (i.e. 1/16) showing up. It would be fun to teach my kids how to use an airbrush to paint fine detail to bring out life-mimicking "reality," but they are probably initially more interested in the driving aspect anyway. That's something my models did not have (although the rockets we built definitely flew -- and well!).

A model and RC car that isn't very good at either
It seems that the concept they were going for was a model that could also be driven which seemed interesting. Unfortunately, as a model, it doesn't result in a model-quality build. I never was able to get it fully assembled correctly with an 1/8" gap in the two main body assemblies that simply won't close. Likewise, as an RC car, it's not very exciting - loud motors, low speed and the wheels fall off (literally) if you bump into things.

Collector’s Choice: Display or Drive!
As a collector of mostly die-cast scale model cars, I don’t usually go for RC kits, but this Ferrari F1 SF1000 model looked like it could be both an impressive display piece and a fun project to build and drive. I haven’t had the chance to assemble it yet, but at first glance, the parts and pieces are high quality, with nice detailing that promises a striking replica once complete. The 1:16 scale captures the essence of the real F1 car, down to details like working headlights, a differential mechanism, and openable doors. With only 65 pieces and no glue or screws needed, the assembly looks straightforward, which I appreciate for a quick project I can return to anytime.I’m looking forward to getting it up and running soon—and to having a model that I can both proudly display and occasionally take for a spin!

Does not work
Built the car. Wheels don’t stay on and the remote control doesn’t work. Would not buy.

Great kit
This is a fun project to build. Built it with my 6 year old son and he had a blast!

Generally Poor RC Toy
Starting with the positives, the instructions for the build were simple and easy to follow, and the car came together quickly. Apart from some of the plastic pieces not really fitting into the holes into which they are meant to go (requiring some modification with a knife to fit), the final product came together pretty quickly with minimal fuss. Even the drivetrain and battery compartments slotted nicely in and worked instantly when tried.Unfortunately, that's mostly where the positives end. The RC controls work well but the car is extremely slow and the turning radius is horrible, requiring a 13-point turn just to reverse directions in a fairly large hallway. The range seems pretty short and doesn't even stretch across our relatively modestly-sized house. The stickers are peeling off constantly, which is a pretty poor look. Most obnoxiously, the rear wheels keep falling off! They are kept on only via tension and even just by driving it at its slow maximum pace, the wheels will come off in a turn, causing you to have to stop, go pick it up and put it back on. My kids lost interest in this almost instantly when they discovered what a pain it was to use. And that's a shame because it looks pretty good (apart from the stickers).

Fun model
I gave this as a gift and the recipient was very happy with the car. He noticed right away that it is meant to be Charles LeClerc's Ferrari and he was looking forward to the building process. Note that this version of the car is not the newer model that Ferrari ran during the 2024 season. It is the previous generation of car with the smaller rear spoiler. If you are a true F1 fan this may not bother you too much as it is a historical relic, but if you are super picky and have just come to F1 after watching drive to survive this may not look like how you expect it to look.
