Arc'Teryx Rho Lightweight Wool Toque

This hat is so good I bought it twice.I am bald and have no natural warmth on the top of my head. Just skin that radiates my precious body heat outward. This hat keeps my head so warm and was perfect for an East Coast visit.The temperatures were down in the teens and this hat really did the job great. It's comfortable, fits well, I need an extra large, and the color is great.

This is good for wearing under a bike helmet. It is warm for cook temps but below freezing I can definitely feel the wind through the hat under my helmet. It is big enough that I can pull it over my ears and it stays put. Overall, the ideal fit with my helmet means I will pick this beanie over warmer options because it feels safest and offers decent warmth. Definitely a bit pricey for a thin beanie.

The material and weight are fantastic. Definitely a skull beanie-style fit. *After wearing this hat a lot in serious cold weather, I returned to revise my 3-star review to a 5-star review. A couple things I noticed: #1 The hat folds up so well that I keep it in a small zipper pocket wrapped around a pair of jogging gloves. I have gone outside a ton and realized that I didn’t dress warm enough. But then I remember I’ve got this little hat tucked away. #2 The hat captures your own heat to keep you warm. It’s not immediately warm like a traditional wool hat. It takes a few minutes (which is what caused my confusion earlier). For example, if you’re jogging, this hat will keep you super warm. But it works great even if you’re just walking. The light weight design has made this hat a lifesaver on numerous occasions for myself, my wife, and my kid. Whoever didn’t dress warm enough gets the hat. 5 stars. I would buy again.
