Miracle large dog chew toy - Delighted
We got our vizla as a 6 month puppy and he was a chewing teething terror. He would go through toys - even kongs - faster than we liked. My vet recommended gorilla chews. Dog likes it, throws it about, is big but not too big, does not splinter in mouth to risk damage to teeth or gums ( said vet). We have bought 3 of them - the first is now size of a softball. He has chewed it down. None of them are gone. 100% worth it. Will be buying another for the holidays.

Last more than 10 months
I was excited to try the Ware Manufacturing Gorilla Chew for my lab mix, as he loves to chew on things and I thought this would be a great long-lasting option. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the product. While my dog did love it, I noticed that it shrank pretty easily and he started coughing when he swallowed some small pieces of the wood. This made me nervous and I had to supervise him closely while he chewed on it. I don't think this is a safe option for dogs who like to chew aggressively, as they may end up ingesting harmful pieces of the wood. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this productEdit: I was wrong; my newly adopted dog has kennel cough. I thought that this java wood was the reason for my dog coughing. Now it's my dog's favorite chew. After 10 months, there are still small pieces of this wood. Will order again soon.

Dog Won't Touch It
My dog breaks branches on walks sometimes and chews on coat hangers when the neighbor kids stress him out so I thought I'd try this for him.....nope, not having it. I tried throwing it like a game to get his interest in it with no luck. Rubbed peanut butter on it to get him to lick/chew it, again no luck other than licking it off. So, as usual, I just wasted another $22.00. Rated at 4 because it is good quality and appears it would hold up well if used. I've tried SEVERAL toys and chews over the years but my boy with have nothing to do with anything I purchase. I give up, done wasting money on him and giving items to friends' dogs!

It’s gigantic
My dog (66 pounds with German shepherd-like jaws) loves it. It is a huge hunk of wood. If I split it in half lengthwise, I’d have two rally big chews that would be a little easier for her to manage. Carefully done, I think she’d do fine if I split it in fourths. As advertised, it chews into soft crumbles (some of which end up on the floor/carpet, where they harden again) and not into sharp splinters. She’s had it for weeks and has succeeded only in making it a bit more streamlined. If I had a wedge or chisel, I’d still split it in half.

BEWARE Horrible chemical smell and NOT RETURNABLE!
My dog wouldn’t get close to this because it came out of the bag with a horrible chemical smell. I aired it out in the sun but my dog still won’t touch it and even I can smell the nasty tar-like scent. I decided since it was expensive I would return it but Amazon told me it is UNRETURNABLE!!!! Waste of money and so disappointing!

Perfect for our furr friends who like to gnaw
I have now purchased this item for 2 different furr friends in my life (after a friend first suggested it upon much success with his dog), and they both LOVE it. This is the ideal gift for the type of dog that likes to chew and gnaw on things. I purchased 2 smalls and the dogs that received these are a Lhasa Apso Terrier mix (20 lbs) and a Frenchie (35 lbs) - my friend has a Blue Tick Coon and he has the large size. The Lhasa, in particular, is an aggressive rescue dog who needs to chew and gnaw to release some of his aggressive energy (according to a trainer), and items like these have been invaluable for him.The wood chews that are the best shapes are the ones without nubs - one of the chews I received had a nub and the Lhasa gnawed it off (in slimy bits, not chips or shards), and may have eaten a few bits. Not sure how edible these are and fortunately that's all he's gotten off. Besides that, absolutely no complaints as I'm very happy with this attention-consuming and energy-using product.I did notice one review where someone said their pup lost interest. To comment on that, this item is good for dogs who like to gnaw (as I said before), not for the type of dog who likes squishy, squeaky stuffed animals. For this reason, I did not purchase one for another furr friend in my life, as she does not gnaw.I will be buying more for other furr friends!

Just okay. Size varies a lot.
We probably won't order these again. We had a Java wood chew as a gift from a friend, and that one was great -- lasted forever, smelled like plain wood, and was soft so it shredded instead of splintering. We didn't know the brand of those. So we ordered three of this item (one for each of our dogs) and were a bit disappointed. The size varies a lot -- we got three small size and of those three, the largest was twice as big as the smallest. That's not a big deal though. It's to be expected with natural products. What we don't like is that the wood seems drier, so it splinters more. Mostly tiny (1 cm) splinters that should easily pass through a dog's digestive system, but there are occasionally bigger (1-2 inch) ones. These splinters are now scattered all over our house, floor, furniture. They aren't sharp/pointy enough to be dangerous, stick into your feet, etc. But they are rather annoying and messy. They also have an odd, medicinal smell to them. It reminds me of the whiff of disinfectant when my diabetic brother checks his blood sugar. Either the wood naturally smells like that, or I can only imagine it's some anti-mildew treatment applied to it. I'm not crazy about my dogs chewing on that sort of chemical, if that is the case. They also don't seem to be lasting as long. The gift from our friend lasted well over a month. We've had these ones for about a week and have already thrown out the smallest one because it got too small. All of that said -- they do last longer than other chews, and I'd rather have our dogs chew on wood than on plastic like a nylabone. The wood chews hurt less to step on than a spiky chewed-up nylabone, too. We have two bully breeds -- a pitbull and an English Staffordshire bull terrier -- and these chews hold up better than most against their powerful jaws and strong chew drives. If you aren't worried about the negatives, they should definitely satisfy strong chewers.I'd love to keep giving them Java wood chews, but perhaps a different brand.

Great chew toy for aggressive chewer.
This was a game changer for my dog. We couldn't chew bully sticks anymore because of ongoing UTI's, so our dog trainer suggested this and he chews it daily. It does not splinter, but it does create smaller pieces of wood as a bit of a mess. All worth it, as he LOVES chewing this. Just ordering the 2nd one... first one lasted 3 months. Less expensive than Bully Sticks.

Yes... its just wood
This maybe wood that dogs can saftely chew, but its still not great. Basically a large log of wood. To make it easier for my puppy to knaw on (coz it reall was huge) i split it. Now the puppy tears bits off, but its basically just splintering which is dangerous. This would have been a much better product if it was smaller, I don't know like a stick maybe instead of a log.

Perfect for Dogs that Chew
Our puppy loves this thing and they last forever. They are very large though so I cut mine into quarters which made it better for a smaller dog. Even cut down in size they last forever.

Great chew toy!
Love these, my beagles love them and they are much healthier than chews and rawhides. Java wood is very soft. I like that they don’t add artificial smells to them. Just a nice wood smell.I have given many of these to friends with new puppies and they love them too. Good for teething and no sharp splinters.
