Perfect
My friend has volunteered to care for me post-surgery so I gave him this as a thank you. He was delirious with joy.

Amazing product and terrific service.
The book is a revelation. It’s huge in size, page numbers, quality, and weight.Very well annotated, good background about the man and his art. The reproduction of Frazetta’s art truly does his legacy justice.Yes it’s expensive but well worth it. Im sure it will become a collectors piece through time.A quick shout out to the sender as well. As standard the book comes in its own protective thick cardboard packaging which has a black ink representation of the book cover. Excellent touch and ideal if you have to take your book somewhere. ( keep it somewhere safe ). On top of that though it was then packed by the seller in a larger box, with a mountain of additional cardboard waffle padding. Short of an earthquake it was never going to get damaged in transit.Very worthy protection for a book this size and cost.Best purchase I’ve made in months!

Total happy
The media could not be loaded.

The Frazetta Monograph I've Been Waiting For
There have been a few decent-looking Frazetta books published over the last few years, but they're all long out-of-print & fetching high prices. I was very happy, therefore, to see that Taschen was releasing a definitive Frazetta monograph in its XXL format. I own a dozen XXL volumes, ranging from Bosch & Bruegel to Rembrandt & Velazquez, Schiele & Klimt to Winsor McCay & George Herriman -- every one a work of bibliographic art. Once again, Taschen has done a beautiful job, and so has author Dian Hanson. It spans his entire career, devoting a lot of page space to reproductions of original comic art, sketches & illustrations, before moving chronologically into his career as a cover artist, as he painted his gore-geously bloody, fleshy depictions of Conan & the creations of Edgar Rice Burroughs; it then delves into his years of growing fame & notoreity as the heavily sought-after master of fantasy kitsch. He had a style that illustrators have long struggled to emulate, and utterly failed to replicate. The book itself is -- like almost all of the XXL volumes -- printed & bound in Italy, as part of a 'limited edition' (mine is number 144 of 6000, so it shouldn't sell out too quickly; just to be sure, I ordered mine from Amazon.fr, since Taschen releases their books in Europe a couple months before they're available in N. America). As usual, it ships in a custom box to ensure the actual book survives the vagaries & depredations of shipping; it's just a brown cardboard box, as opposed to the beautifully designed 'travel boxes' that all the previous volumes arrived in, but it features huge Frazetta illustrations on front & back that make it a nice part of the overall package. The paper is thick, dense, & fine-grained; an acid-free coated stock, with a medium gloss finish. It's a very high-grade choice that is perfect for art-books, capturing the vivid colors of his oils & the velvety blacks of his work in ink with an intense verisimilitude. The photography is all very sharp & defined, but it would take a far more knowledgeable Frazetta fan than myself to pronounce the reproductions as exact representations. They sure look good to me.Until a Frank Frazetta catalogue raisonne emerges, this will probably be the book Frazetta fans return to for the foreseeable future. Even then, the massive 12" x 16" dimensions make this book a brilliant showcase for one of the greatest artist-illustrators of the 20th Century. Kitsch is Art. Art is Kitsch. Kitsch for Kitsch's sake.
