Best Budget Ergonomic Chair for Office and Gaming
I've only used this chair for a couple of days, but here are my first impressions: Comfort: This is the most comfortable chair I’ve ever tried. I can sit in it for many hours without discomfort. It feels majestic. Adjustability: Excellent. Even more expensive chairs don’t offer this many adjustment options. Back support: Amazing. My back will thank me for this in the years to come. Reclining: Great reclining function—smooth and supportive. Price: Fantastic value. It beats chairs that cost twice as much or more (though those might have better warranty terms). Warranty: Just okay, but maybe fair for the price. Assembling: It was easy, no problems.. Durability: I’ve only had it for a few days, so it’s too soon to say. But I hope it lasts for several years because it feels perfect for me. I did a bit of research before buying a new chair because I didn’t want to spend too much. Several YouTube reviewers recommended this one, and now I understand why. It really deserves the positive reviews it has received. I can highly recommend this chair for both gaming and office. I usually prefer buying local, but even IKEA couldn’t match this one in terms of price and comfort. If it lasts three years or more with normal and good use, I will definitely buy it again. I’d also recommend it to friends and family. It’s a well-designed, ergonomic chair—especially for the price.

IF YOU ARE 6'2"+, THIS IS A GREAT CHAIR TO CONSIDER. [BUT READ MY UPDATE!!!!]
UPDATE: I am posting this as a courtesy to other [tall] purchasers who might be tempted to do what I did. I said in my 1st review that I had jerry-rigged the chair back placement by pushing it back as far as I could to accommodate my long legs. I did it by leaving out the two side screws and putting the center screw into the forward hole in the lift mechanism plate that attaches to the plastic plate holding the seat back. [SEE 1ST TWO PHOTOS] It all seemed sturdy enough to go with only one screw - metal plate, thick, sturdy bolt, thick, tough plastic piece holding the chair back. I WAS WRONG! IF YOU ARE TEMPTED TO DO WHAT I DID TO GET SOME EXTRA SEAT DEPTH......DON'T!!!! I took a break from working, turned on the TV and released the seat so I could lean back to full recline. It wasn't the 1st time, but it was definitely the last. After 10 seconds, heard a CRACK! and an instant later I was crashing backwards - with the chair back - to the floor. The front edge of the plastic plate had cracked under the stress of my 215 lbs. and broken off. [PHOTO #3] I don't think this was in ANY WAY a fault of TICOVA's design or construction. The plastic piece that holds the chair back was made to hold THREE screws, not one. Using only the center screw put ALL of the stress at the end of the plate and it just wasn't manufactured for that much stress. So this was an accident entirely of my own making. I reattached chair back to lifting mechanism using the two [remaining] outside screw holes and seating the back's plastic plate all the way in - where it's supposed to be. So far, it seems solid and strong and I don't anticipate further issues. If I do have any more, I'll just email TICOVA, explain that I am a risk taking idiot who, not being an engineer, am not qualified to estimate tensile strength of anything much sturdier than a banana peel, and politely ask if I can purchase another base for the chair back. P.S. - ONE DAY of sitting in this chair my constant back pain after being in any chair more than 10 minutes disappeared. If you have a bad back, spend the money and get an ergonomic chair. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Just got this chair put together today and I've been sitting in it for less than an hour. However, I am so glad I went through the pain of sending back the first ergonomic chair I got and replacing it with this one. The first chair was the NOUHAUS ergo 3D Office Chair. The NOUHAUS is a beautiful chair, sturdy, well-made [so is this one] and perfect for anyone 6' and under. I am not. I'm 6'2" with long legs and the seat depth with that chair is 16.3". After realizing the first chair was too small, I dove back in and found this TICOVA ergonomic chair, which bills its seat depth at 20.5". It sounded perfect; I like the seat to extend out nearly to the back of my knees, so an extra 4" seat depth fit the bill. The seat didn't feel like it had an extra 4", so at first I panicked. I didn't want to spend $800-1000+ on a chair, but I was nearly resigned to having to order an X-Chair because of the adjustability. I was able to make an adjustment to the seat placement which solved the problem, though I'm not sure if the company intended the solution, as I had to leave off 2 of 3 screws that attaches the chair back to the seat and use a different hole than the intended one for the 3rd screw. [Pictures] Fortunately, it's a thick screw/bolt, and I'll save the other two in case this one snaps from my Covid depression-eating weight gain. This issue could be easily remedied if TICOVA simply changed the design & placement of the holes on the seat plate, which the chair back fits into. I'm not even sure what the extra three holes are for, so if I was redesigning the plate, I'd lose the two back side holes and the smaller front/center hole. Then I would lengthen the channels the screws fit into to allow the chair back to slide as far to the rear as possible. I think, frankly, that I would lengthen the base plate, too. That would allow for even more adjustability and potential seat depth. Am I quibbling? No. I may be 6'2", but my inseam on jeans is only 32"; they fit me fine. But people are getting taller all the time. [My 16 y/o son is already 2" taller than me!] What does someone who's 6'4" or 6'5" do? With a small redesign, TICOVA could capture a broader segment of the market, and I'm all about market share. The chair is good enough that doing something other manufacturers are NOT doing would give them both a design and market edge. Okay, my rant is over. Here are all the cool things I love about this chair. 1. Jerry-rigging the chair back placement solved my problem. I now have a nice deep seat, which makes me very happy. 2. I am not - nor have I ever been - a fan of mesh chairs. I've worked at a couple companies where I was given an Aeron Herman Miller chair. My reaction was, "Meh." So I can't tell you how much I LOVE THE CUSHIONED, FABRIC COVERED SEAT! I'll live with the mesh back - I don't notice that as much as a mesh seat. But the seat is big and roomy and comfortable. If you have to have a mesh seat, there are plenty of other chairs out there. 3. CUSTOMER SERVICE. I [thought I] did not receive assembly instructions and immediately emailed the company's C/S support. They responded via email within an hour with a PDF version of instructions! Great C/S, TICOVA. Thank you. 4. Armrests aren't hard plastic. They're covered and padded. They're not *soft*; it is an office chair, after all. But I appreciate having a little give. I also love that the armrests are shaped and have convex channels. It just adds to their comfort. 5. I can sit upright in this chair without discomfort. The first chair I tried seemed a bit *too* upright - almost as though it was pitching me a bit forward of vertical. For someone with a bad back, it was wildly uncomfortable. I had to work with that chair in the first tilt-back position, which sort of defeats the purpose, doesn't it? 6. Comes with an Allen wrench and all the screwhead gauges are the same, regardless of the thickness of the screws. Nice touch. 7. The instructions are straight forward and the chair was easy to put together. 8. I wish the lumbar support was adjustable. They have a chair that does, but not this one. I don't how much more the adjustable chair is, but it's Christmas. Kids come first. DEAR TICOVA: My suggestion to make an adjustment to the plate at the back of the "Mechanism" [the plate that affixes to the seat] comes free of charge. But if you do make a change, feel free to send me the redesigned chair and I'll sing its praises!

Perfect for the Price
The ergonomics of this chair are a game changer for me. After using a generic office chair, a padded office chair, and a gaming chair, this one has been a huge help in changing my posture for the better. And while it's certainly not cheap, it is the cheapest chair I've used so far, which is also rather eye-opening. It was easy to assemble, and is far more comfortable than I expected. On top of that, I feel locked down when reclining instead of nearly falling out of the chair, so that's also rather nice. My only complaint is that the cushion feels a bit thin, so I'm not sure of the longevity, but it should be good for a few years. It's firm enough that I'm confident about that. Overall, if you're on a budget, I'm not sure there's a better chair for your desk.

Not for taller guys
Chair is great and comfortable but If your 6’3” + look for a different chair. This one is not built for taller guys. A majority of my legs hang off the chair and it gets pretty uncomfortable after about half an hour.

Perfect for a 5'4" woman
This is the fourth chair I have tried in just the past two months, so I'm not just raving without experience lol. I have searched for years for a chair that suited me and did not aggravate an old back injury. Too high, too hard, seat too narrow, seat not deep enough. Nothing ever worked. My dream chair would have arms and seat that would go low enough to work with my custom made desk that is 26.5" high. The arms would be adjustable to the height of a woman 5'4", not limited to those suited to a 6 foot man, so high that they pushed the shoulders up uncomfortably. The seat would be comfortable, ergonomically designed to support the low back and wide enough and deep enough to accommodate a woman with a substantial "rear support system." This chair has it all. The minute I sat in it, I felt like it had been custom made for me. The seat is very firm but not hard, and molded so that it fits just right. Wide enough I can even cross my legs in my lap while I work. The lumbar support has a nice flexibility with a wide heavy frame covered in the same mesh fabric used in the back. Honestly can't think of anything this chair is lacking. I did not put on the headrest but it was also very well made and nicely padded. Easily adjusts to much taller users.

Can't get comfortable
I've had this thing for about a week and am giving up and returning it. For reference, I am 6'1" and 200 lbs. The issues I've had with this chair include: *Lumbar support is very stiff, which tilts me forward in the chair and makes the head rest unusable; after sitting it in a while, I develop some gnarly tension between my shoulder blades. *The tilt feature offers zero support - you either lock the chair in one of the three positions or you're going all the way back. The tension knob has been no help whatsoever. *Arm rest cushions are hard and uncomfortable *Fabric on seat cushion and lumbar cushion is rough and unpleasant to feel after relatively short periods of time. *On the fly adjustments are difficult, so if you're someone who likes to move around and change positions frequently, you'll have trouble. This chair favors sitting in one position without changing for long periods of time, which is not good ergonomics. The only good things I can say about it is that it seems durable and was pretty easy to put together, although do use the gloves because the screws are liberally coated in machine oil and it will get everywhere. I guess I'll see how easy this is to disassemble and stuff back into the box. EDIT: It lost its last star after I tried every non-destructive means within my power and YouTube's surprisingly deep library on office chair disassembly to remove the pneumatic piston from the base. There's no way that puppy's coming loose, ever. I managed to partially disassemble the piston and wedge the contraption into the box, but I was forced to devise a gusset with another piece of cardboard to get the thing closed. It now rests encased in a cocoon of packing tape and spite, as prepared as it will ever be for its journey to the abyss. May UPS and Amazon's return department have mercy on me for the abomination I am about to commit to their care. I get that having a return policy is optional, but, if you're going to have one, it seems like common sense to first ensure that the offending item be possible to disassemble by someone with the same level of tools and knowhow required to assemble it in the first place. This is not the case for this chair. Unless you are convinced you are going to love it or are an inveterate gambler, I cannot recommend this chair. Or buying chairs on Amazon at all.

first impressions - not as comfortable as I'd hoped
the seat cushion was very firm, which I find disappointing. fortunately I recently bought a memory foam seat cushion, but you shouldn't need a 3rd party product to comfortably sit on a new chair the lumbar support is also not comfortable because it's made of plastic, and it's too aggressive even at the furthest-back position. they don't tell you this, but it is possible to remove the lumbar entirely by unscrewing the 6 screws on the back plate (with a tiny screwdriver so you don't hit the back mesh). then, of course, you're left with no lumbar support which is one of the selling points of this chair speaking of the mesh, it is causing some itchiness on my back, even with two layers of clothing, and especially with the lumbar pushing the mesh deeper into my back. hopefully I will get used to it. the recline works okay but only locks in three positions which is not enough flexibility. the first position is fully upright at 90 degrees to enforce good posture and it works for me. the middle position does not seem to lock properly as you can still rock slightly back - not sure if they're all like that or just mine, but the other two positions lock just fine. the third position is (almost) fully reclined which is good if you want to kick back and watch a movie. sometimes I wish I could lock the chair somewhere in between the first two positions but it's not possible. the headrest is too far back and doesn't support my head at all when sitting upright. it only touches my head when I'm in the reclining position. the headrest also wobbles, both forward-back and side-to-side. the armrests are fine, it's nice that you can adjust them on 3 axes (up-down, forward-back, and tilt) though there is no width adjustment, you have some flexibility in the width while installing them. I installed them at the narrowest position and that works for me. maybe I should give a more generous review because it's "only" $120 but the fact is that everything is massively price gouged. $300 chairs should cost what this chair costs and this chair should be $50. it's not bad enough to return but there are enough drawbacks that I wouldn't really recommend it my recommendations to Ticova to make a better chair - a softer (memory foam) seat, a padded lumbar support with a less aggressive setting, forward-back adjustment on the headrest, and more lock positions on the recline.

Best Value Chair Holds Up
I work from home and needed a new chair. It was not in the budget for me to get a steelcase or any of the top brands. Many reviewers cited this chair as the best value office chair and I have no complaints. Mostly metal with some composite components it is definitely better than chairs I have paid more for in the past(hence needing one) construction wise. This chair does not pivot from the seat post but rather has a recline mechanism built into the back. My previous chairs have broken at the pivot point so this is a better design that I hope adds to the longevity of the chair. The seat is firm and comfy. The mesh back is also comfortable. Moreso than I thought it would be from the photos. There is height and width adjustments for the arms. They also rotate in/out about 30° each way. The pads are dense polyurethane. They are fairly smooth and the contoured shape makes them comfy enough. Setup is about 20 minutes. Compression casters roll nicely. The headrest and lumbar are both welcome features. I thought I would leave the headrest off initalially but it definitely adds to the comfort of the chair. I'm sure there is equal and possibly better chairs in the sub 300 range but good luck finding them. If you're tired of overthinking chairs in this range just get this and be done with it. You'll be happier for it.
