Handy device
This is a handy device for serious tripod use. I learned about the value of this bracket at a recent photography class I attended. I also learned about the value of a ball head for the tripod. I had used a head with multiple adjusting knobs, Manfrotto magnesium head RC2 with rapid connect plate, which is a good head, but I was always adjusting this knob and that and when changing from landscape to portrait mode the camera was always off to the side, awkward and out of balance. Then I learned about this bracket. This is a sturdy bracket which quickly attaches to the camera. One makes initial adjustments of the piece to fit one's camera and once done it can be attached or removed from the camera with a single screw to the bottom of the camera at the tripod mount. The quick release plates allow for it to be rapidly taken off the tripod and reattached in whatever plane desired, landscape or portrait, and it centers right over the tripod, not leaning off to the side. It is perfectly balanced and if one takes the time to set it up in the first place using the handy little device for centering the quick release plates at the lens. This makes for its being centered when changing from vertical to horizontal.Used with a ball head, the bracket makes short work of tripod adjustments and everything is much faster, secure and stable. One criticism, but I did not feel it warranted docking them a star, is that they could have included an alan wrench to fit the set screws. It might come standard with the unit, but mine did not have one. Fortunately, I had an extra one in the tool drawer so I merely put it in my camera bag for future use. One other criticism, also minor is that the MC-30 remote trigger release for my Nkon D3s has a connection that is L shaped and abuts up against the bracket making it a little suboptimal for connecting and disconnecting. Perhaps it is my lack of dexterity that hinders this operation. I have never really liked the ergonomics of the connection of the remote trigger anyway.

A Bit Pricy But Worth It!
There are lots of camera L Brackets on the market but few that offer the Monfrotto style quick release plates. I decided to go with this one after reading all the positive reviews and I'm glad I did. This bracket is well made and easy to use. Nothing ever comes lose and my camera is held rock-solid in place. Once attached to your tripod head, It is so much better to simply release the camera and flip it than to monkey around with reframing and levelling. I now own two of these and I can now swap camera bodies instantly.

Does it's job great, with only one caveat
This is a solid piece of metal! I got the L-bracket because I'm thinking about changing cameras and didn't want to spend a lot on a camera specific L-bracket. I was going to shoot waterfalls in Oregon and wanted a solid base for all those vertical shots - I hate it when my ballhead slips after a perfect composition! This suited me well for use with my Canon 5D Mk ii. My biggest complaint was that using the adjustable screw out plate for vertical position blocked my trigger release cable access port. I had to add my battery grip to elevate the base high enough to access it. I also had to attach the cable prior to putting on the L-bracket. This meant I ended up carrying around a bit extra gear than I wanted. However, it didn't make that big a difference and makes you look like a total pro. Overall, I'm very happy with it. If I knew I'd have this camera for the next ten years I would've invested in a Really Right Stuff bracket made specifically for it to avoid the access problems.Pros1. Solid Construction - doesn't bend AT ALL.2. Integrated tool for tightening the nuts.3. Adjustable for different cameras.4. Does it's job wellCons1. A little heavy (goes with being solid)2. Accessing ports can be a problem3. Needed to buy a new plate to attach it to my tripod (but the new one fits my other tripod attachments, so it was a win!)4. Not compatible with Arca Swiss.

Exactly what I needed.
I bought this to use with two Sony mirrorless cameras: NEX 7 and A7 II.Both cameras will have a long telephoto zoom mounted to it,and the whole thing will then sit on a monopod that has a small Manfrotto head. The L bracket holds the camera securely, and that small handle with the plastic knob, keeps the body front shifting when mounted. This is exactly what I needed, and I'm returning the Manfrotto long lens holder, as this handles things perfectly.Like most things Manfrotto, it's well made and very sturdy. It's lighter than I expected. I spent roughly an hour, moving the plates, attaching and removing the cameras.I read the instructions carefully and then re-read them while I made changes.Like others have said, I would have preferred the turn key for attaching the camera, although the Allen wrench fits all of the various parts that need to be loosened or tightened.

A little difficult at first
Note that this bracket will work on my Nikon D750 only with the MB-D16 battery pack attached, adding more weight for hiking up to destinations. But this weight is countered by the fact that I can take portrait images without changing the camera/lens/tripod ball head c/g. A bit pricy, but worth the peace of mind.

Supporto a L Q2
