A Proper Vitamin D Supplement
Was affordable, up to when I last purchased it; and it lasts a good while - so I don't have to buy it frequently. High quality. Naturally-sourced. Ideal in form (D3, and not D2). Easy to swallow, easy on the tastebuds. And very effective. With the supervision of my doctor - I used this supplement (in appropriate amounts, relevant to my need at the time) to boost my levels of Vitamin D, instead of using the pharmaceutical D2 - which is less effective, and whose booster doses are a major overdose and come with a risk of side effects and toxicity (esp. if taken for prolonged periods; sometimes its prescribed like that). I was severely deficient, and successfully brought up my levels; adjusting the dosage for maintenance, after that. Mine is a chronic deficiency (without treatment), and I've been taking these ever since. They do the job safely, and well.

I've got sunshine in a bottle...
VItamin D is actually not a vitamin but a hormone. Perhaps the most important in your body. And if you're like most people in the Northern Hemisphere you have too little D. Vitamin D is synthesized through your skin and absorbed into your blood stream as an inactive form of D. It then heads to your liver for a pow wow with your bile salts to become a base hormone and then be used to create cholesterol (not a biological death machine, an antioxidant actually) and then your sex hormones yadda yadda. If you're like me and drank a lot of Draino as a kid your liver is crap and synthesizing your own D is a beast. It's hard! I tried a few brands and liked this brand the best. Some benefits of enough D are more muscle mass, better sleep, less inflammation, and a new car. Just kidding on the last one.Anyway, Vitamin gold has the best D, and it's BIG! A bottle like this lasts me close to a year. Good value for lots of D. (:

High quality vitamin D and makes it so you take less pills per day....
My favorite, favorite thing about this was the fact that it came in a good, quality oil with the soft gel. Also, I only have to take two of these a day, since I take 10,00 IUs most days. You really want to be careful when you take vitamin D, that you also take vitamin K along with it. Vitamin K works alongside D, to make sure that minerals are appropriated in the right places in your body. Vitamin D is actually a hormone rather than a vitamin. D3 is the one that you want to use, since it comes from animal sources. If you have a problem with that or if you are a vegan, then you're best bet is going outside and exposing your back and a large portion of your body for the recommended time, at a certain time during the day.It is also a good idea to get your blood tested yearly, so you can make sure that your levels are at an optimum level. According to doctor Mercola and some other doctors that believe vitamin D plays an integral part of cancer and sickness prevention, having your vitamin D levels at a steady, optimum level will require supplementing and testing to figure out exactly how many IUs that you need to suit your needs. Some people report supplementing with large doses and experiencing no change in the levels of their blood. You won't know you less you test. I do love these vitamins D gels.

It's slowly working
My doctor decided to check my vitamin D levels since I was complaining of fatigue. This was in December 2011. After some research into Vitamin D and the different products available, I decided to buy this brand. I started taking one pill a day the second week in January 2012. On April 2nd, 2012, I went back to the doctor for another test. Just for clarification, the doctor did a 'Vitamin D 25-Hydroxy' blood test, and the scale was 30 - 100 ng/ml. In December, I had tested at 23.8, when I went back at the beginning of April, I tested at 30.4. So yes, it is working, but very slowly. I can't imagine anyone seeing improvement or vitality in just a few weeks. Even though my number has improved, I'm still fatigued all the time. Its my understanding from what I've read that you need to be between 50 and 70 on the test scale to see increased energy levels. Due to my scheduling, I hardly ever get sunshine, which would probably help increase my Vitamin D levels faster. I do think this is a good product. I live in Georgia, and we can't even buy 5000IU tablets over the counter here as they don't sell them in the stores. I have not had any side-effects with this vitamin, and it does not cause any kind of stomach upset. I'm very pleased with the performance so far, and I will update my review when I have additional blood tests performed. I do recommend this product as a safe and effective way to slowly increase your Vitamin D levels. Just don't expect overnight results.Update June 1, 2012: After my Apr 2nd doctors visit, I increased my dose as follows: 1 pill three days a week, and two pills four days a week. On June 1st, I had another blood test, and my Vitamin D is now 47.5. Still no increase in energy or even just feeling better.Update 9/16/12: After the June 1st results were received, I dropped back down to just one pill a day. Had a new Vitamin D test on 9/16. Vitamin D is now 52.6. Still no increase in energy (beginning to think this may not be the reason for my continued fatigue). Just to recap, after 9 months on this product, my Vitamin D level has increased 28.8 points.

It worked for me. 85 ng/ml Vitamin D level
This product worked well for me. I got bloodwork done after taking it for over a year and my vitamin D levels are awesome. I feel pretty good and all my labs are within range or optimal. My testosterone is 717 ng/dl(I know that matters to some people who take vitamin D) I believe this supplement is high quality and reliable. I understand one of the reviewers was upset about the company offering them free products for reviews. I do not see the problem with that. They aren't telling you to give them 5 stars. They just want your feedback.(i never received the offer) It has nothing to do with the quality of the product. It's made in the USA and it contains olive oil. These were a big plus for me. The price was competitive so i tried them out. I recommended it to my parents as well and they are taking it. Good Luck with all your supplements guys. I give these 5 stars.
