Great for minimalist footwear and intuitive!
So, I am a size 7 in women's, these shoes are mens sizing so technically the accurate conversion of size I would need is 5 in mens. Tho the smallest size available was 6. The fact that these fit perfectly is efficient and great news for me hence why it runs a little small. These shoes are fantastic. They are easy to put on. love that Velcro and the soles do have a nice traction compared to other ninja tabis but the real treat is knowing you can karate kick a brick and throw a can at your foot and not feel a thing as the toe protection in the shoe is added which is a very genius idea. Just imagine all the villains you can kick off the top of buildings without worrying about subbing your toe ;) all jokes aside I'm really happy to know I can be closest to natural barefoot movement without having my toes at high risk of something smashing them.

Heel inserts a must for standing long periods of time…Updated 1/2024. Game changer!!!!
Classic fitting tabi with ease of Velcro straps. The synthetic toes protect well. I used to wear tabi while playing taiko so I remember the feeling of wearing while performing. Slightly uncomfortable as you need them to be just tight for form fitting so thin socks are a must. Now I wear tabi cooking for Japanese outdoor festivals...add in dr scholls heel inserts and you have a winner. Tabi take some time to get used to. For those who want more comfort you might want to take a look at “air” tabi instead.1/2024 Update: I stopped using the heel inserts and now am fully flat. My feet don’t hurt anymore. I guess it takes time to adjust…no more squished toes, and no more aching corns/blisters on my pinky toes from western shoes. Tabi are a life changer!

As close to barefoot as you can get with a safety toe.
I should start this review with a disclaimer. Although these boots do have a safety toe, they are not ANSI rated, or have any other safety certifications. The seller is clear about this in the description and in the answers to questions they respond to about safety ratings. The boots should only be used for light protection around the house, and if your job requires safety toes, these will not qualify. That being said, I wear these boots at my job, because I am required to wear safety toe shoes. Management never checks certifications, at most they will just have you kick a wall or something to prove there is some sort of protection on the toe. And if you show up on a shop floor wearing tabi boots, someone is going to check. These boots will pass those kinds of checks.I wear vibram five fingers outside of work, and have been looking for a barefoot safety shoe for years. These aren't as comfortable to me as the vibrams, but they are way better than any other set of boots I have tried. I have been wearing them for five weeks worth of ten hour shifts on concrete. I have added a zero drop insole for some padding, but other than that, these boots have been comfortable. If you are not used to wearing barefoot type shoes, they will not be comfortable for long periods of time at first. Work your way up to full time wear, and once your feet get used to them, these boots are more comfortable than any other safety toe shoes. For the first week I wore these boots, I would slip and slide all over the place whenever I stepped on any sort of oil. After the first week, this issue went away. I don't know if the rubber on the sole degraded a bit because of the oil and got more sticky as a result, or if I just got used to it and walk differently in oil now. Just an issue to be aware of if you work around oil. The boots were grippy on all other surfaces I tried them on, including the ice in the parking lot.The reason for the missing star is due to the sizing. These boots are sized in centimeters, so I did what other reviews suggested and measured my feet. I have 27.5cm feet, which is right between two sizes. I wear a 9.5us or a 43eu for reference. I followed the suggestion in the product description and rounded up to the nearest centimeter. They fit fine, but I probably should have ordered a 27cm instead of a 28cm, since these boots seem to be more comfortable when worn tighter. The velcro adjustments are easy to use, and seem to have quite a bit of adjustment toward the larger end, but I wish they could be adjusted smaller. I don't have particularly small calves, and these boots will not strap down tightly. Maybe they are supposed to have pants tucked into them, but I don't wear them that way. I will be sewing on another velcro patch to be able to adjust the top strap tighter, but have not done it yet, so can not speak on how effective this will be.When I first received the boots, I was worried about the durability. The soles are sewn on and glued to the fabric. The glue job is kind of sloppy, and I did notice some bad stitching, although not on the sole. After over a month of wearing them in a machine shop that can destroy even high end boots, the sloppy glue job and stitching have not caused any issues, and have not got any worse. They are holding up as well as a two hundred dollar pair of boots, and much better than other boots in this price range I have worn.Overall, I am glad I found these boots. Until vibram makes a safety toe pair of five fingers, these will probably be my go to work boots. And since vibram will probably never make safety toe five fingers, these are the best boots I will likely find. They are very comfortable, surprisingly durable, and are a great price. I will definitely be ordering another pair when these wear out, just in a size smaller.

Great price for a quality shoe.
This shoe is rad, well constructed, and the style is awesome. My only issue is that the sole isn’t the most supportive, and they don’t do smaller sizes. I put in two inserts, two only because these didn’t go as small as a woman’s US 6, but they are mega comfy now. :) Great price for the quality. I highly recommend these!

Sizes run small
The bad: These were simply too small for my feet, despite me owning other footwear of the same size that fit perfectly. They're just sized a bit out of spec, so order accordingly. Also the Velcro strapping seems sized for people with either large ankles, or those intending to tuck in some very thick pants. The good: The safety toe cap is comfortable, but takes some getting used to. The sole is thin, but it gives a good feel of the ground you're on, and isn't uncomfortable when walking on gravel or smooth ground with the occasional rock or something.Despite them being small on me, they fit my girlfriend (1 1/2 size smaller than me) perfectly, and she loves the things.

PERFECT!! Large calves savior!
I was having a pretty disheartening time finding a ninja tabi shoe that fit for a cosplay and took a chance on this one. Thank goodness. The velcro really makes sizing and outting this on a breeze. It fits Iver large muscular calves and that's AMAZING! The does are also super hard so I don't have to worry about getting stepped on. If you're a women's 9 I totally recommend a men's 7. I got a 7.5 and it's kiiiind of too big, but I have some tabi socks so I'm good to go!Bless this shoe!

Uncomfortable
The size was correct, but the shoes were not at all comfortable. Returned.
