The Reintroduction of Wild Wolves Gives Us Hope!
Wolf Nation offers compelling environmental, scientific, political, and personal testimony as to the value to our world of wild wolves. Above all, the book strips away the negative myths and falsehoods about the wolf that have abounded through the centuries, replacing them with both up-to-date science and stories that support the reintroduction of this magnificent predator into the wild. Critics once derided the validity of Jane Goodall’s intimate and compassionate observations of chimpanzees. They were proven wrong. No doubt, the author of Wolf Nation will attract similar attacks—especially from those who cling to the fear-based notion of wolves as murderous beasts. One gift of this well-written book is that we see clearly the wolf as an animal with strong family bonds and pack loyalty. We also see how environments into which they are reintroduced begin to recover: soil erosion slows, trees and other plants begin to grow, rivers return to life, and ecological balance is restored. Bravo to Brenda Peterson for going deep into Wolf Nation and returning to share the science and stories that matter.--Marlene Blessing

Excellent book!
My daughter had recommended this book to me, am so happy I went on Amazon & ordered it. Very well worth the read. Super informative & interesting. I have since passed it on to my sister, then she passed it on to her daughter-in-law, who then passed it on to her sister-in-law; it may end up going through our whole family (hahaha). Would highly recommend from mature young adult & up.

A coplex subject to have a right or wron response.
Interseting book and a tremendous amount of detail. Some parts could be summarized better. Very political subject with no right and wrong. Learnt a lot from this book and the issues that wolves both contribute and impact both plus and minus.

Timely and informative
This is an interesting & well researched book about wolves by Brenda Peterson, writer and wildlife advocate. The history of wolves, our relationship to them, the controversy about their value, and recent scientific research about wolf behaviors and their role in balancing the wild ecosystem are told .I particularly enjoyed the stories of Brenda's personal experiences with wolves and the thought provoking chapter on "Wolf Music". Another favorite chapter of mine is about amazing wolf OR 7 , called "Journey", who safely survived travel of over 1200 miles , found a mate & established a family of his own.

Great book
The narration was fine, but the reader had a way of putting a big smile in her voice at inopportune times... The audiobook was very listenable. The story itself pretty much covers all you ever wanted to know about wolves and wolf history. To me that's a disadvantage, because I Iike to read contrasting information. I doubt I ever read about wolves again. Don't get me wrong--it is all very interesting and informative. And I like dogs and have friends who love their wolf-dogs. I have a more positive view of wolves being introduced again, but overall, I would fear meeting wolves, bears, or other wild animals while I'm out in the woods. Our forefathers killed so many of them to make the country safe, and I am not convinced wolf packs are a good idea.

Peters makes a strong case of how engaging with, and learning from, nature can have a positive effect on our physical and psychological wellbeing, giving examples of the individuals, from school children to troubled adults, who have sought nature and the positive benefits that these encounters have brought them. She makes a strong narrative case of the interdependence of all living things, arguing how one species controls and supports others. She explains how we all play a role in protecting the world in which we live and the natural settings that surround us, arguing that no species can be eliminated without series consequences to other aspects of nature. This book makes the reader have all the feels and It’s a must read.
