These shoes were a hit for our daughter. She loves them so much that she wants to use them to go everywhere. However, they aren't practical in the park or allowed in school. So, they have their limitations.Be aware that these shoes are big and heavy. Not as much as four wheeled skates, but much heavier than boots.The sole is thick, so the wheels can be inserted and stay inside. Only the back wheel is always on the shoe. The front wheel can be installed or removed (tool provided). When the front wheel is removed, there is a plug provided to cover the hole. With the front wheel removed and plug installed, the back wheel can be engaged and the shoe can roll using the hill of the foot (like a "skateboard"), It takes some time for the kid to get used to this, but once they get it, they love the dynamics of rolling everywhere.The lights are activated by a small button on each shoe. The button is located on the charge port that uses a miniUSB port to charge the battery. Charging is quick (about 20 to 30 minutes) and lasts several hours of use. The lights have multiple colors that can be changed by clicking the button multiple times. The charging port is too big to be placed inside the shoe when the foot is inside. The cable kind of dangles on the side. I am afraid it will get broken quickly for not having a well designed place to place it when the shoes are in use.

I remember when these style of shoes were “in” when I was a kid. It looks like they are becoming cool once again. By daughter was ecstatic when she tried these on and has been wearing them around ever since. She said the only thing that she doesn’t like is how had you have to push the button to get the wheels to come out. I told her that they should loosen up over time and I think that is the case. I do wonder about the placement of the charging cable. The cable is on the inside of the shoes and either has to sit against the foot or hang out with the laces. I do think that it would have been better to place the charging port in a better spot that wouldn’t rub on the feet or potentially get caught out something. Over all though, my daughter really likes these shoes and gives them two thumbs up.
