I’ve had sciatica for many years which led to me having a microdiscectomy 10 years ago. The operation was successful in terms of me being able to have a lot more freedom of movement and not being in agonising pain every day.However, I still have chronic back pain and experience sciatic pain which comes and goes.Positives about this product are:1. This back brace really helps as a preventative measure to reduce the risk of injury. I always wear it if I know I’m going to lift something heavy.2. Helps speed up recovery when I have sciatic flare-ups.3. Recovery from back pain is faster when wearing this brace.4. Well made. I have had two of these during 7 years (due to weight loss) and the first one lasted for 5 years and is still going strong (given to a family member), current one is just as good.5. Supportive boning all around. Others I have used have been either too flimsy or too restrictive.6. The height of brace I find works really well in terms of the area it supports.7. Good support whether standing or sitting.8. Relatively comfortable even when carrying out activities that require bending or during exercise.9. Strong velcro that stays stuck! This does not pop open.10. Obviously no brace is completely comfortable but this is supportive and makes you aware of your posture.Negatives:1. The only negative I can think of is that if you have weak shoulder/arm/wrist pain it may be difficult for you to fasten the brace to the desired tension.I have had a shoulder injury so have experienced this personally, however, someone else will be able to help you fasten it easily enough or you could use place your feet apart, place one hand on a wall and use this to push against and fasten the brace to a better supportive tension.I’d really recommend this as a preventative and recovery aid if you have back problems or sciatica or if you want to ensure that you protect your back during heavy lifting.

Back ache comes and goes, but this time it had lasted for over five weeks, and I scarcely dared move for fear of setting off more twinges. Chiropractic treatment loosed very tight muscles, but wore off between appointments. The chiropractor advised me - against his normal practice - to buy a brace and this was the one I chose.As soon as I put it on, I felt better. The tight muscles relaxed, and over the next week I felt a good improvement.I still get twinges now and then, and I have to continue to avoid awkward movements. But the brace is a very good relief, and has boosted my confidence. It seems that the muscles now gradually taking care of themselves, where before it was one step forward another step back. I have long pain free periods, and have greatly reduced my dependency on painkillers.The fitting is clever. You start off by putting the sash on comfortably and fixing it with velcro. Then there are two separate straps which you can pull really tight and again fix with velcro. These second straps are easy to release of you need temporally to have more flexible movement. Do not expect a miracle cure, but the brace facilitates natural recovery. Strongly recommended.

Good quality - flexible, comfortable and easy to use. No impact to mobility in general use - does not get in the way. Prone to some folding when sat down but certainly provides beneficial support to the back.

A month before getting this I had fractured my L1 vertabrae whilst falling while walking the dog, and was still finding moving around difficult. I got this to add support for my back, but I only put it on this afternoon after having it delivered and almost immediately felt more supported and comfortable. In terms of pain relief, the pain has visibly declined since putting it on. I am about a uk 12-14 but went for the L, and could have gone for the M too. The adjustable straps are good to make it tighter. I find mobility very easy in this, and the material feels really sturdy. Sitting isn’t particularly comfortable due to the boning, but it’s not too bad.Good value for money for the comfort. Definitely recommend!
