Ukraine. Across its eastern border is Russia and to its west Europe. For centuries, it has been at the center of a tug-of-war between powers seeking to control its rich lands and access to the Black Sea. 2014 s Maidan Massacre triggered a bloody uprising that ousted president Viktor Yanukovych and painted Russia as the perpetrator by Western media. But was it? Ukraine on Fire by Igor Lopatonok provides a historical perspective for the deep divisions in the region which lead to the 2004 Orange Revolution, 2014 uprisings, and the violent overthrow of democratically elected Yanukovych. Covered by Western media as a people s revolution, it was in fact a coup d état scripted and staged by nationalist groups and the U.S. State Department. Investigative journalist Robert Parry reveals how U.S.-funded political NGOs and media companies have emerged since the 80s replacing the CIA in promoting America s geopolitical agenda abroad. Executive producer Oliver Stone gains unprecedented access to the inside story through his on-camera interviews with former President Viktor Yanukovych and Minister of Internal Affairs, Vitaliy Zakharchenko, who explain how the U.S. Ambassador and factions in Washington actively plotted for regime change. And, in his first meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Stone solicits Putin s take on the significance of Crimea, NATO and the U. S s history of interference in elections and regime change in the region.

Updated with experience
Several years ago I wrote a very negative review of this movie because it appeared like Russian propaganda. I must apologize to Oliver Stone I'm sorry. I have to say my journey in Ukraine started 6 years ago and over the time I have learned a lot. And I've learned the narrative of Russia being the bad guy is completely wrong. Currently the country is neither democratic nor control by the people of Ukraine. The facts validate what Oliver Stone is portraying. I like many others and many people in Ukraine believed that the Western narrative which unfortunately has been a big psychop.

An inconveniently factual accounting of the events in Ukraine
This documentary isn't a neutral depiction of the Maidan Revolution (or coup, as Roger Stone would have it), but more so a presentation of facts that complicate the established narrative of these events. A good example of this is the shocking reality that openly Nazi forces played a major role in the revolution (the film actually understated this element). I say it's not a neutral depiction because it does take Russia's side, so to speak, but as any thoughtful person understands, being neutral doesn't automatically make one correct. Sometimes the truth isn't neutral. But even if you don't accept the predictably (a Stone staple) heavy handed treatment Stone gives here, facts like these, that often go totally ignored by the mainstream press, make this film worth watching.

We should mind our own business!
Just goes to show ya that every country has its 2 sides. Especially if you watch the more recent one entitled Breaking Point. While its obvious in Breaking Point that the ousted president was a crook, it's also obvious in this one that our media manipulated the facts. Also, it shows the US's involvement, both right and left, that didn't help these people. Both should be watched so you can make your own opinion/interpretation. That's the most important thing; Realizing that no matter what side your on, in our political realm, the US played a significant part in in the corruption. We should really mind our own business more often than not. Also, you can't change the minds of others. They believe what they want just like you do. Just as strongly. Respect each other. Why can't we all just get along?Trump2020

This documentary will blow your mind
I am thrilled that someone has documented the story of what happened in Ukraine. You will never trust your government again after watching this film. Very Well Done!! This film exposes the entire scandal about how elitist bureaucrats in the west schemed and contrived to ensure an elected government was destroyed...... so they could install one of their puppets. The formula for this type of "psychological operation" is exposed. (The objective is always about stealing the resources of the targeted country). Many innocent people were murdered in the name of "regime change." We are just now beginning to find out what's been going on with all the "foreign aid" money.....and how it ends up in the pockets of politicians. After you watch this film, you will want to keep on going. The next two films in the sequence are "Revealing Ukraine" and "The Magnitsky Act, Behind the Scenes." The "Revealing Ukraine" movie plays a recording of Victoria Nuland saying there would have to be at least 100 people murdered in the Ukranian Maidan Revolution before the public opinion needle would be moved in America. These people are diabolical. I hope there is a hell where they can all rot.

A deep and unique view of a poorly understood conflict
Worth viewing for anyone interested in getting a perspective on the Ukraine conflict that goes outside of the mainstream.

Oliver Stone’s slanted and one-sided “documentary”
It’s obvious that Oliver Stone is pandering to Putin, and loves Russia. Either that, or Putin gave him a ton of money to slant this “documentary” towards making Russia look good and the people of Ukraine look like criminals. It’s was very interesting to me that Stone forgot to show, or even mention, the police shooting unarmed civilians during the Maiden protests.Glory to Ukraine.

Worth watching non biased documentary
Very accurate and relevant to what DC is facing now. No propaganda involved in this documentary is base on veridic facts. Of course is very painful to hear the truth from what we don’t want to believe enjoy.

One sided propaganda
This film is entirely propagandist. He interviews Putin, Yanukovich, and the head of police who oversaw police brutality attacking peaceful student protesters. There are no interviews with any civilians who were actually at these protests and all protesters are lumped into "Neo-Nazi supporters and some random civilians who fell prey to their misleading propaganda." I kept waiting for some other side to be presented for fairness but all I got were interviewers with a man who changed rules to give him more power and used taxpayer money for golden toilets and loaves of bread (the former president was chased from the country and his former mansion estate was turned into the Museum of Corruption). It belittles the entire revolution against corruption into conspiracy theories that belittles any autonomy of the people of the country and aggrandizes the benevolence of Putin.
