Royal Canin Oral Care Adult Dry Cat Food 400g

My cats love this food - two domestic short hairs and a maine coon. The kibble size is quite large but it's great because it slows them down a little and really does work their teeth. It smells appealing and they all look forward to a bowl of this stuff. At first I used it occasionally as I was concerned it would be too much hard work for them, but now I just free feed it like any other food and they are all happy, plump and have gorgeous coats of fur.

With two feisty Abyssinian cats, finding the right food that is good for them, and their teeth (which often can be dodgy on the breed), the Royal Canin Oral Sensitive blend does just the right bits - being delicious to the cats, while keeping their oral health in check (obviously, you need to check their teeth periodically with your vet as well). Just one note, they DO tend to like it a lot, and as such, you need to resist giving them "all they can eat." It will put on weight to a cat very easy, which is NOT good for most cats (definitely NOT Abyssinians). We feed the two only 3/4 of c up a day, cut back wet food (very fattening) to 3 times a week, all under vet prescription, and they have dropped the excess weight slowly but surely, and are now back to their 'fighting weight.' The food leaves their fur shiny and glossy, their eyes alert and shiny, and they are ready for play and running about for a good part of the day. Highly recommended.

My cat had really bad breath, we could smell it even when he was on the floor grooming himself - he would literally clear the room. Vet said nothing wrong with him! I was despairing, then came across the reviews for this, thank goodness. Within a very short time, certainly within a few days, we could no longer smell his breath. Both cats love it and always eat every single last bit, even the small bits that have broken off that they used to leave. I also give them a couple of wet pouches every day, for extra liquid in their diet. Would recommend this 100%. They don’t seem to eat as much of this dry food as they did before when they were on Iams.

Sehr gutes Futter! Unser Kater musste, als er klein war (6 Monate), und wir unsere zwei Katzen noch mit einem anderen Futter gefüttert haben schon zum Tierarzt bzgl. Zahnstein. Dieses musste dann unter Vollnarkose entfernt werden. Das Problem war, dass er das herkömmliche Trockenfutter nicht biss, da es zu klein war, und alles nur mit der Zunge in den Rachen warf. Nach Empfehlung des Tierarztes sind wir auf Royal Canon oral umgestiegen, da es sonst hätte sein können, dass wir alle 6 Monate bei ihm bzgl. Zahnstein sind. Unser Kater ist nun schon 12 Jahre alt und wir mussten bisher nie wieder zum Tierarzt bzgl. Zahnstein.

Dieses Trockenfutter wird von unserem FIV Kater gut angenommen und soll primär gegen Zahnprobleme vorbeugen. Das klappt auch ganz gut und die Zähne sind immer noch in gutem Zustand. Wie es ohne das Futter aussehen würde, kann ich nicht sagen, da ich zuvor kein anderes Oralfutter gegeben habe. Zu beachten ist noch, dass das Futter etwas größer ist um die Zahnpflege zu verbessern. Katzen die nur das kleine Futter gewohnt sind, kann das schwierig werden bei der Akzeptanz.

Beim vorletzten Tierarztbesuch wurde uns ans Herz gelegt unserem Kater Zahnstein entfernen zu lassen. Allerdings ist er Herzkrank und eine Narkose kam nicht in Frage. Unsere Tierärztin hat uns dann Zahnpflegefutter empfohlen und wir haben seine Ernährung auf dieses Futter umgestellt. Beim letzten Tierarztbesuch wurde eine deutliche Verbesserung fest gestellt. Das Zahnfleisch ist auch nicht mehr entzündet und als dem Maul stinkt der Kater auch nicht mehr. Dieses Trockenfutter ist größer als Andere. Dadurch müssen die Katzen das Futter tatsächlich beißen. Früher hat er es immer nur runter geschlungen. Unser Kater ist gesund und munter, wer weis ob er es ohne das Futter auch wäre und bei unserem jüngeren Kätzchen sind die Zahnsteinprobleme auch verschwunden. Wir füttern ihnen nichts Anderes mehr (allerdings auch weil beide Nassfutter nicht vertragen)!
