Healthy ants and fun to watch!
Purchased 3 vials of ants for an ant farm and they arrived on time, no issues with just a handful of casualties. I followed the directions regarding refrigeration and they were easy to pour into the farm, they surveyed their surroundings for an hour or two and got to work! My 8 year old declared, "boring", then proceeded to watch for a half hour until bedtime. When did 8 year olds get so cynical?

Not worth it in my opinion
I received the ants today and every single one inside the tubes are all dead legs and body parts all over and no live animals sticker

Plenty of Ants, 95%+ Arrived Safely...Would Recommend
I bought these to put into a "gel" ant farm. They have been a wonderful experience for the kids, and they definitely have been doing their job. Of the three tubes of ants, there may have been two or three dead ones...quite great for live insects. Would recommend.

Very fun family activity
Over half of them was dead and majority of them died when I put them in the new ant farm, but it’s cool because enough of them survived that me and my children have had a great time watching them build very fun family activity

They all arrived alive. Although I forgot to put them in the fridge to put them to sleep

Misleading and Dangerous – Not Safe for Children
I purchased these ants for my 9-year-old son's birthday, trusting the product’s branding and the clear implication that they were safe for use in children’s ant farms. The packaging and advertising suggest this is a family-friendly educational product—nowhere was it made clear that these ants are capable of delivering extremely painful stings. While transferring the ants into the farm, a few escaped. Within moments, both my son and his friend were stung, and the reaction was immediate and intense. These stings weren’t just uncomfortable—they were excruciating. We live in Texas and are very familiar with painful ant bites, including fire ants, and I can confidently say these were significantly worse. This product is being marketed irresponsibly. If you’re selling live venomous insects, especially for children, there should be very clear warnings and safety guidance. What should have been a fun, educational experience turned into a traumatic one—and could have been far worse for a child with allergies or sensitivities.I do not recommend this product for any household with children, and I strongly urge the manufacturer to re-evaluate their marketing and labeling practices.

No
Half of them were dead but I knew that would happen before I bought them. What I didn’t know is that they would be twitching because of parasites. Whatever. Also I got stung and it really hurts. It’s worse than a bee sting so please keep that in mind.. Please refrigerate them.

They bite!! HARD!!
I wish I had realized that these guys could bite as hard as they can. My son was thrilled with his ant farm that we got him for his birthday. We got the ants in pretty quickly. No problem. I noticed that when we were trying to put them in they were biting the tube. And I was a little surprised by that. But we were very careful. Well, the other day my son decided to expand his ant farm and he did not drill the hole perfectly for the size of the tube that he was putting in. So he had a little Gap that he didn't realize was there and all of a sudden we are seeing ants in the kitchen. So we go upstairs to investigate and see what's going on. Only to find that we had let out 20 to 30 of these guys. This was literally two days after my son got bitten by one when he was feeding them. It hurt for 5 or 6 hours. He is not a whiny kid. It was very painful. Probably one of the most painful bites he's ever gotten. I've never seen him be that upset over a bee sting. Even a hornet sting. He said it hurt worse than that. So we spent about 3 days searching the entire house for ants terrified that we were going to be bitten at any moment. Thankfully nobody was bitten and we were able to track them all down and either kill them or get them back in the ant farm. The ones that we ended up killing we did accidentally trying to collect them to put back in the ant farm. So that kind of stunk. But it is what it is. We did our very best. One thing to be aware of if you get your kid an ant farm is they are going to probably try to enlarge their ant farm without help. Make sure they have help! Learn from my mistakes LOL.
