I bought 2 and although It can be a challenge to program these are the best and fastest fingerprint door locking handle on the market IMO. They can be setup and programmed via bluetooth prior to actually installing on the door, just pop the batteries in and using the ACARA app, create users and enter passcodes and fingerprints. Very study heavy duty door handle. Super fast. If that is all you want that's all you need to do. If you need to make changes or check your battery level you will have to be within 30' of the lock to be able to connect to it via the Acara app If you want remote functionality and notifications you'll need an Acara M3 hub to bridge these doorlocks to your wifi network. I have the Acara M3 hub and have connected and integrated it into my HomeAssistant server. This monitors my battery levels automatically and i can remotely control my locks all from my home assistant. Works awesome. I highly recommend this lock. I have 2 of them on my main house exterior door and my garage main door. Over 6 months of use and batteries are still at 90% under moderately heavy use.

Work Well Feels Solid/Premium.. Pairing to the Aqara M3 Hub Thread over Matter was a little Gimmicky.

These are the most reliable finger print door lock I have ever used in a residential application. The read speed and accuracy is the fastest I've ever experienced. Having the NFC unlock option via HomeKit is also great for if you're wearing gloves. The installation and setup instructions are via a very simple Youtube video, which is also straightforward. The only challenge I ran into is that it steers you into believing you need a Aqara hub for Homekit control; This is not the case. Once the device is setup in the app, open the Apple Home app and manually add the device using the QR Code. It will add quickly and pairs reliably.

I like this lock mostly because there are very few smart options that aren’t deadbolts. The silver finish looks good and feels solid in the hand. It doesn’t feel cheap, but it’s also not on the level of a high-end decorative handle set. For me that’s fine, it fits in well with our foyer and doesn’t stand out in a bad way. Installation was straightforward. I followed an online video just to be sure I was doing it right, and everything needed was in the box. Adding it to the Aqara hub was simple, and then bringing it into Home Assistant via Matter and into Apple Home via Matter was also easy. Apple HomeKey works great on this lock. You also get multiple ways to unlock: physical key (included), NFC keycard (not included), Apple HomeKey, and Bluetooth through the Aqara app. Fingerprint unlocking is where things fall short. That was the main reason I bought this lock. The idea is you grab the handle naturally, it reads your thumb, and the door unlocks. The advertised 99% accuracy is nowhere near my experience. With just one thumb enrolled, it worked maybe 40% of the time. I ended up registering the same thumb as three separate fingerprints to try to capture different angles and grip positions. That bumped it up to around 75%, but that’s still not good enough. It definitely fails the “wife test” since she’s had to call me a few times because it wouldn’t unlock for her and I had to open it remotely. Battery life seems fine so far, but I’ll know more over a full year. In Home Assistant, you can see the firmware version, battery percentage and voltage, and tweak settings like how long the lock is disabled after failed attempts, which is nice. In short: it’s a good-looking, solid-feeling smart handle lock that fills a gap in the market and integrates well with Home Assistant and Apple Home via Matter. But if you need fingerprint unlocking to work almost every time, this version isn’t there yet. I’ll be watching to see if Aqara releases an updated model with better fingerprint accuracy before I buy another one for another door.

Well I installed it, everything was working just fine, door opened, closed, finger prints reading, code working, even the virtual key was working, wonderful. Then I left the house for the first time to take by dog out and when I returned it unlocked but then it said it got jammed for some reason and I couldn't open the door, even with the physical key. Had to call a locksmith which ended up getting the door open at 4x the cost of the unit but also ended up destroying the lock so ultimately a no go. Even after getting the door open, the back knob and physical key didn't work, which you would think would always be the case, but for whatever reason this malfunctioned it was preventing the key from working as well, so much for the failsafe. I got this to use with HomeKit, which it is not very compatible with, like the swipe to unlock feature did not work, even before it malfunctioned and jammed. Basically you just get alerts that the door is unlocked or locked or jammed. The proprietary app works for basic setup, but is confusing making you think you could connect to your matter unit (a HomePod in my case) but you can't, it's just for their own ecosystem (which after the claims and experience of this lock I will be avoiding). The unit is well constructed and feels solid, I was impressed putting it in place, but everything else from there seems like it was rushed out the door and needs more work.
