It is a beeping sound. I really like this alarm clock. Small and compact and does the job.

Q: Do you have to reset the alarm daily?

As these are mainly used in hotels, the factory default is single-day alarm. However, you can easily switch off that function in the battery compartment. Regards, Mike - Lercos Foodservice & Hospitality

It does not set automatically. You have to set it the first time but it does update for DST automatically. Thanks!
