Safe & Efficient
I used to have a heat lamp for my quails, but truthfully it’s just too much of a fire hazard. This heat plate worked miracles! My baby quails loved it and kept them warm. It was always the perfect temperature. The size is perfect because I had about 25 baby quails and they all fit. You can easily angle it to fit even more.

Perfect little heater
The topper is a lifesaver. Without, chicks poop all over the top & it's awful to clean. Super easy to adjust and does the job well!

Buy this one.
Great product. The pointed cone keeps the kiddos off the top, and the unit keeps them warm.

I like it, but I use it with the heat lamp
I don’t like heat lamps. I was constantly afraid of fire hazards and the temperatures were fluctuating all the time with the bulbs. I lost 3 new chicks due to over heating bulbs. Hesitant to spend the money on this but gave it a shot. This was easy to set up, but there’s no way to tell what temperature it is once it is turned on. You have to rely on the chicks to tell you whether or not it’s working correctly. My four day old chicks are in my picture and they are showing that yes it was working correctly because they are quiet and cuddling all up against it. I’d say it would fit about 9 chicks comfortably. I can adjust it pretty easily. It came with a cone on top so they don’t roost and poop all over the top. I hope the plate doesn’t overheat, but all I can do is wait-and-see so far I like it a lot. Edit: I did end up using this in addition to a heat lamp, I had to put my heat lamp back in and use this as well. I think this is a great product, but I don’t think it can be used as a standalone. After 24 hours, I noticed my chicks still needed additional heat around the food source as I was using this in the garage. So I did end up adding the heat lamp back in. I just made additional precautions and the heat lamp is now used as a secondary source. I will say the chick are a lot happier, with the heat plate as the primary source for sleeping

Better than heat lamp bulbs.
The heating plate is a great way to keep chicks warm. The warmth is on their backs simulating the mother hen. This seems much safer than the heat lamp and uses less power. The red topper is cheaply made but it really does keep the pullets off the top of heat plate itself, this minus all the chicken poo building up on top of the plate. I bought the 10 x10 and it does cover 15 chicks. It is a bit tight and I wish I had gotten the next size up for when the chicks grow and expand body size and weight. Overall it is a great product.

Chicks love it!
Super easy to put together, bought so I wouldn’t have to use a heat lamp. They sit under it all the time. Easy to adjust height as they grow.

Great alternative to a heat lamp
This is our first time raising chickens and we decided to go with this product instead of a heat lamp because it seemed safer. We really liked this warmer for our chicks because you could adjust the height for the size of the chicks. Also, it only is warm if there is pressure on the underside of the plate. So I felt like it was a safer option because it would get warm as the chicks pressed their backs up on the plate. I did not get the topper that prevents the chicks from sitting on the top but it may be something I consider next time because a lot of chicken poop accumulates on the slat surface because as the chicks got bigger they liked to roost on the top. It was a little annoying to clean but not a deal breaker. I would definitely purchase this again in the future as it worked well for us!

Not big enough for 15 chicks but a great product
Heat lamps make me nervous so we went with this heating plate. It was priced better than some other brands. It didn’t come until late in the evening the day we got our chicks so we bought a heating pad meant for chicks to use in the meantime and you could tell they were too cold. They really like this heating plate, I set it up with 2 legs as low as they could go and the other 2 legs a few notches up so they could be warmer depending on where they went under it. It’s really nice that it can be raised up as they grow. There is a plastic cover you can buy for it but I didn’t want to spend $20 on it. They will climb on it and poop all over it without the cover but you can just add a paper towel or some cardboard to keep it cleaner. Even though it’s hard plastic on top the chicken poop really sticks to it and is hard to clean off without unplugging it and scrubbing it with soap and water. The chicks love it and sleep under it. We only have 5 chicks and there is plenty of room but I don’t think 15 chicks could fit under it comfortably like they advertise. Our chicks are about 2 and a half weeks old and there isn’t a ton of extra room under it now that they’ve grown so much. If you have more than 10 chicks I would definitely suggest buying a 2nd plate or a larger one. It seems very durable and I’m not worried about leaving them home alone in the brooder with this like I would be with a heat lamp. I also read that a heat lamp uses more in energy over the 6 weeks or so that the chicks will be in a brooder than this plate costs so we found it to be a good investment. Hopefully it will last for multiple groups of chicks and not need to be replaced. I would definitely recommend over a heat lamp.
