*****I really, really loved this book. "Energy Addict" 101 Physical, Mental, & Spiritual Ways to Energize Your Life" by Jon Gordon promises to "refuel, recharge, and refocus" your life, and indeed it does just that. It is a small book, but with 101 concrete definite tools for "energy building"---you can choose to make small, very do-able changes in your life, take baby steps, and end up with a lot more energy than you could even imagine.I am a life coach, so I know all of this (all of the things to do), have all the books, etc. What I found valuable in this book was not necessarily brand new information (although there was even some of that!) but its succinctness, and organization---thus you have everything all in one place and can go through (sort of like a menu in a restaurant) and choose the actions you'd like to do right now. Eventually, momentum takes over, and you feel more and more energetic, and ready to take on more and more actions.One new thing I learned that was very interesting is that there is a big difference at night between getting 7 hours of sleep and 8 hours of sleep. New research has shown that the REM sleep you get between the 7th and 8th hour of sleep is absolutely critical to feeling rested and to the body repairing itself. So this is why I feel SO much better on those days when I get 8 hours sleep than 6 hours...The chapters are short (a page or two) and I enjoyed the format, so I read the whole book injust a few hours. I marked all of the changes I want to start with and will refer back to the book again and again. It's very practical and not just old ideas rehashed, not leaving you feel like you "should" make the changes, but that it's just too overwhelming to do so; instead, the author shows you HOW to begin and continue.The book covers physical, mental, and spiritual approaches, how to create rituals to support your new habits, and how to get rid of "energy vampires", habits that suck your energy. It is easy to see how working to build your energy, while working to eliminate energy vampires at the same time---this could create almost a vortex of energy so that you'd feel better and much more energetic right away. I know that other books might promise to help with this, but the practicality of this one works.So even though I consider myself very experienced in the self-help arena, this is a valuable book. It is great for novices, too, for the person who would love to have a life coach or personal trainer, but who is just too busy or too tired to even think about it. This book delivers value for pretty much anyone. I am buying a copy for my husband (because I want to keep mine just for me), and for three friends!*****

I have always been a high energy person and working out every day along with the many jobs I had in the past was never a problem; however, I am always seeking ways to increase my energy. The first book I read on this topic was “The 10-minute Energy Solution” by Jon Gordon, which was not a compelling book and I only thought it was a fair read.The second (253 page) hardcover book (Become an Energy Addict: simple powerful ways to energize your life by Jon Gordon) I read by the same author is in my opinion a much better book. This wonderful book lists more than 100 ways to increase your energy along with numerous practical tips. Interestingly, I am already doing many of the things this book suggests to increase my energy.Some of the many excellent suggestions include the following: Create rituals that will become your foundation, exercise in the morning, breathe in energy and breathe out today’s worries, focus your energy, be the age you want to be, value your body, take short energy breaks, master the flow of money, stop looking at the computer screen, tap the energy of thought, play to win, adapt and evolve, energize with yoga, don’t be a waiter, drink water instead of soda, take a power nap, trust your gut, relax instead of talk and numerous other practical ideas on how to increase your energy.I really liked this book’s approach much better than his other book on the subject of energy. If you are seeking a practical and effective book on increasing your energy, this is the book for you. You can skip the other book he wrote on this topic. In my opinion this is a better text on the subject of energy.Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Tactical Principles of the most effective combative systems).

This is a book that I hate to love. I'm a scientifically-minded guy, but Gordon's tips and explanations are mostly anecdotal. I sometimes cringe at the justifications he makes for some of his points.But despite this, the book has helped me a lot. I'm on tip #40 or so. Many of the tips were things I already knew. But so far, I've gotten about five tips or so that were new and helpful. Which means that the book was /easily/ worth its cost.In addition, even though I feel it's silly at times, I appreciate Gordon's positive energy. He's a little smarmy, but a guy who has the energy to talk about energy for 101 tips is a little inspiring. You need to have a good attitude to have energy.I like to read a tip from this book first thing in the morning when I get up. It helps me think about the day to come in a positive way and try out the tip. I enjoy it.I have to say that I like having this book and that it has been very helpful to me.

Written on a simple language - easy to understand ideas - simple ideas to achieve happiness. Impossible not react to this book. It's possible to read it at your own pace, without stress and enjoying each tip.

Came highly recommended but I didn't learn much. Straight forward pop psychology. Would not recommend but some will enjoy it.
