I really like this laptop. It feels great to use, very solid with the aluminium back-plate across the keyboard and track-pad area. It looks great and it’s a beast. The machine makes a very satisfying sound when you type with a reassuringly satisfying feedback and semi-vibratory sensation on the fingertips. It truly is very enjoyable to type on this machine and this is coming from a guy used to using a cherry MX brown switch on a Poker3 keyboard. The plastic exterior feels solid and has a reassuring texture to it as well. I think the laptop looks amazing mainly because of how compact it is and how thin the bezels are. For example compared to the Dell G5 this machine is very, very sexy and compact. I have no issues using it on my lap, in bed or picking it up in my hand and using my other hand on the track pad. Lots of friends have commented on how great it looks. The track pad is not Microsoft Precision drivers, however it feels very nice. I rate it considerably higher than the Dell G5 trackpad that has a horrible rough texture to it. This trackpad almost feels as glassy as an Apple one (just the texture of course nothing beats an apple trackpad). Another bonus in my opionion are the dedicated (and incredibly satisfying) buttons under the trackpad. This allows the user to disable tap-to-click feature which stops any annoying accidental clicks, and forces you to use the dedicated buttons which work far better than the typical (non-Apple) trackpad anyway. They are really nice buttons actually. In short it works really great despite not being Precision software, and like with an apple laptop I sometimes find myself using the prackpad over the mouse when browsing and work even when it’s plugged in and sitting right there in all its RGB glory. The monitor is very bright, I estimate 300nits. It is indeed a 144hz monitor which is amazing to use both when gaming and normal browsing and office work – this is a very big upgrade to 60hz and the fact this machine is the same price as a Dell G5 with a SIGNIFCENTLY worse monitor that runs at less than half this machine laughable. What is even more staggering is this machine also benefits from g-sync (which for some inexpliccable reason isn't advertised anywhere here). This makes this machine comparable to £2000+ gaming machines, because the technology smoothes the frame-rates and makes the games run buttery smooth. I had never used g-sync before I got this laptop, and I actually noticed that PUBG seemed/appeared smoother than when playing it on my 1070 dedicated PC. G-sync will greatly increase the life of this machine as g-sync is great for games where you can't maintain solid 144 or 60hz during a game. So what this does, it future proofs this laptop and in my opinion adds a lot of value to it. Obviously however 144hz and g-sync eats your battery, but you can turn these off should you please (I wouldn’t bother though). I had to send back my first laptop as there was very bad IPS back-light bleed. This will be present on all IPS panels (laptops and monitors) to some extent and it is just 'ips lottery' if you get a good panel or not. I was going to be OK with that panel even though it was kinda bad, however the machine also suffered from heating issues. I got lucky with the second unit as it runs 10oC cooler than my last unit and has almost no backlight bleed so I’m very pleased. Something to be aware of is this machine does not use the integrated Intel graphics chip at all (even though it has one), it is using the nVidia graphics chip AT ALL TIMES like an actual PC tower would (and unlike most laptops made in the past 5+ years). This does have some significent benefits to gaming, however users should know that this machine does not really have a 'low power mode' per se. The battery life is reasonably good, I would say 4 hours of use but I haven't actually tested it properly but I am happy with the performance. It does have a larger battery than most gaming laptops at this and higher price ranges to its credit. But the fact it only ever uses the nVidia graphics means it uses quite a bit of power. My advice would be to check the idle temperatures. Make sure that your laptop stays between 40-50oC. If you are getting idle temperatures that creep up to 60oC you have a defective unit and should ask for a replacement. On my first unit I think the GPU wasn't installed properly or something, because it was higher temperature than my CPU during normal browsing and YouTube. On my second unit it is always lower temperature than the CPU. I have idle temperature of 46oC in a hot climate which is actually very good. I would also recommend clean installing windows to remove bloatware, and setting the voltage to the lowest pre-set in the BIOS. You can also disable turbo-boost in the power options (set to 99%) for even cooler temperatures. In short good laptop. I paid £1250 for it in September 2018.

The laptop has a very nice quality feel to it with a generous amount of resources for the price. It handles the games well with good vision and sound. It does however get hot when playing resource intensive games. Another point I would have suggested would have been to forget the 1TB drive and fit another SSD as games install on the 1TB drive do lag a bit. All in all I am very happy with my HP Laptop

Let me first say that I am not one that knows all the details on laptop specs. I'm a casual gamer that appreciates a good piece of equipment that can deliver my basic gaming-requirements without having to put much effort. Additionally, I've only had about five unique days of gaming on this device so it's still early days. TL DR Version: - Don't be silly. Ensure you do some basic research on the laptop before you fork out £1K. - Computer can get hot. Tips below on recommendations on this topic. - Install the latest drives/updates directly from the HP web-page. - Sweet-looking machine and keyboard. - Handles all games tested with ease. - I am happy with my purchase (so far) -- Detailed Version: I purchased this laptop on Prime Day (Jul-2019) as I noticed that the laptop was ~25% off. I had done some basic research online, read some reviews and due to my desire of wanting a new laptop to replace my former (which was 5 years old), I went and purchased it. Getting the computer prepared was a piece of cake. It took about 30 minutes to do the basic installations required. However, as I read in a review, I highly recommend immediately going to the HP web-page and downloading all the latest updates/drivers. There were dozens available and doing so was super useful. I obviously started downloading a few of my favorite games. This includes World of Warcraft, OverWatch, and The Witcher 3. I immediately wanted to know how good the graphics were. For each game, I left the computer to decide the recommend settings. Blizzard games were able to run on High / Upper-end and was able to bring them up with little impact to gaming. Heavier games like The Witcher 3 defaulted to Medium, though bringing them to high also made the game very much playable (and stunning). What surprised and even worried me a bit (again, not a laptop guru) was how hot the laptop gets very hot. And when it does, the fans kick and while a bit loud, it's actually not a distraction. I use headphones and never really notice it. But initially, this did make me do some additional research online, particularly on YouTube to get additional tips from pros out there that have purchased or reviewed this laptop. It did give me some reassurance that this is typical for gaming laptops and as long as the laptop doesn't exceed 95*C or so (which it should rarely do), that all is fine. What I recommend to help reduce the heat (based on my brilliant YouTube research), is to not use the "High Performance" setting it suggests for gaming but rather keep it "Balanced". From what I've seen and researched, there is minimal difference between either other than the heat (and fan-noise) the laptop outputs! Graphics remained unchanged in both scenarios as did frame-rate. Otherwise, the laptop is great and looks very pretty. I love the customability of the keyboard colors, I like the design of the laptop, it's not too heavy, and at the end of the day, it handles my gaming really well. Playing WoW on this laptop is like playing a brand new game. I can now see details I've never experienced before and it's such a good feeling. All-in-all, I am happy with my purchase.

This was bought as support computer to my desktop so I could work away from home and still have something usable. Performance wise it's ok, the screen is lovely, though I now have a few dead pixels. Battery life is little below par on normal use and ok/understandable when you're pushing it that it is limited. But equally, you don't get a laptop like this to play solitaire on a flight. The fans are horribly noisy all the time even on low load, but totally unbearable when on full use, to the point that unless you have headphones on there's no point in having any audio on at all (and the "B&O" speakers aren't great either). For the price I would expect almost silent fans under a full load and complete silence with normal usage. To that point. I had really terrible overheating problems when it first arrived, with me ending up having to prop the laptop up and use desk fans to keep it cool. Upon returning back to HP, who clearly knew there was an issue (and noticing after a little research that it was a common problem), upon its return it is, "better", but still far too noisy when being pushed. It's not a laptop I can recommend, at this level and price I expect a lot more.

The Omen 15 seemed a great deal, my model had a GTX1060 OC & 144hz IPS panel for £1149. Specs that on paper seemed good and even on first boot (that took ages btw) looked grand but then I noticed the terrible light bleed on the bottom edge and left and right of the screen when watching a dark YouTube video full screen in the dark. The laptop seemed well made with slim twin exhausts and metal backed keyboard deck but any adjustments of any kind of it's flimsy top panel made the lightbleed spread into the centre of he screen, no matter how careful I was. Shame as speakers, scrolling, Dan noise and general build made for a mini Alienware vibe but with a 'tiny' footprint for a 15" panel.

Pros - Can play most games at very high settings - Great screen capability: Can do 2160p video - Looks incredible: All black with red highlights, carbon fibre on the back of the screen, aggressive styling, customisable backlit keyboard. - Decent speakers: for built in speakers they are pretty good. Cons - Can get a bit noisy when in use but if you are wearing headphones you don't notice - Battery life isn't great lasts a few hours but I use it at my desk where it is plugged in at all times and so this is not a problem

I just received the 15-dc0029 model today and and i can say i'm rly pleased with the choise i made even if i hesitated in the beginning..i wanted to go for Asus ROG Strix Hero 2 at the begining. I can say i was lucky to..i received a perfect unit from 1st try..no screen bleed at all and the temp on idle is constant 43-46°. Even when i use daily base tasks like youtube..watching a film or browsing temp is constant to a 48° max. I went on the HP page and updated all drivers to day even installed a new BIOS version..and it's just perfect. Yes FAN's can be a bit noisy but it'a a gaming laptop in the end. I also heard a lot of ppl complaining about the sound quality compared to other units in the same price range..for me after the new audio drive the sound is just delightfull..crystal clear acoustics and not too much bas on it just the right ammount. Overall i would say HP nailed it with this one..same specs as other manufacturers out there but less the price for it. I would recommend to any1!

This laptop is excellent in terms of the value and the price compared to its counterparts. The one I received had sunspots or light bleeding. Moreover, the adaptor got so hot that it was impossible to touch it. Anyhow, I called HP customer service and then they had my laptop picked up to change the screen. It took 6 days and when I received it, the brand new screen still had the same issue but there was another bigger problem: I couldn't play any game since it lagged for no reason and even online gaming was a terrible experience since even though I have a reasonable bandwidth, the connection of my laptop after returning from HP repairing department became poor. In the end, I decided to return this laptop to buy HP pavilion. I truly believe HP omen is an excellent machine but my experience was disappointing.
