Excellent cutlass. Well made and high quality.
I purchased this cutlass to wear in uniform for our wedding as I'm an active duty Navy Chief. It was a last minute decision to have me wear the cutlass so we decided to order this replica as the actual uniform item would not arrive in time as the maker was out of stock. Bud K delivered it promptly and the quality is impressive. Everyone loved the cutlass especially my bride. We even cut the cake with it!I highly recommend this product for just about any use. Photo's, recreational pirate battling, sword play, and many other swashbuckling adventures.

Right handed
Overall, a lovely piece of stage ware. Being a lefty, I was a little disappointed in the obvious right handed nature of the sword, but then again what would you expect from an 1860 replica (just wish it had been called out in the description). The manufacture is fairly high quality, the blade came oiled and wrapped to protect it. The brass parts were a touch tarnished, but nothing a little polish couldn't remedy.I say stage ware because the blade itself is dull and the cutting edge is a good 1/16th of an inch from side to side (it would take a serious effort to put an edge on this sword without machinery / grinders. The only dangerous part of the blade is the point (unless you intend to use it as a cudgel). The grip is very nice in stitched leather (or that's what it seems like at least).Overall, a great buy for the price and added well to my pirate and steam punk costumes. P-)

Great buy.
Authentic looking. The sheeth had some scuffs and marks but nothing a little polishing can't fix. Great buy.

No quality. Bent. Broken and missing parts. Inaccurate description
TERRIBLE PRODUCT! AVOID!!!CONS:NO carbon blade, NO fuller/ blood groove, NO distal taper, thinner at width and girth than the description, Rat tail tang, NO hardening, NO tempering, Faux leather handle was torn on one when i got it. Handles came loose, swords have overheat grind marks, swords are crooked, no belt frogs, cracked gaurds and nicked blades (before i opened them) , swords set sideways in hilt, cardboard in sheath to keep swords tight fell out first unboxing. Brass sheath fittings are pokey fit and glued only, on the sheath. Not pretty for display. Not heavy duty or even light duty for sparring or reenactments. The gaurds would snap off, and blades would shatter, and hilts would disinigrate with any use more than an uboxing.PROS: nice bowl gaurd on hilt is acctual brass. Sheath is real leather..........After some research i found a few things. The 1860 cutlass look like it was made at a high end manufacturing plant that went bankrupt. When they closed down they took bar stock metal and bolted it into existing sword hilts. And instead of fitting wood handles and leather wrap, they just drilled a hole and smashed the wood onto the tang and then wrapped it in FAUX leather to keep the wood from splitting further. This happened to me with a sword made in India a few years back...so apparently it's an epidemic in India . They would rather sell cheap cheap crap from a run down store...than pay to dispose of the stuff. So the hilt looks nice. ButThe company who sold this shipped it in nice enough time and good packaging. But dodged all the inquiry about how these 1860 cutlasses are made in their comments section. I think they knew how cheap these things are.Sending the item back for refund.

Not even as sharp as a butter knife.
Hefty cutlass, built well enough. Totally dull.

Beautiful reproduction
This reproduction cutlass feels like the real deal minus the razor-sharp edge! We are happy with the quality of it, the metal is well-polished and it came a little oiled to keep it from rusting (I guess). It looks exactly like the ones in many naval hero pictures proceeding 1900.

These are pretty decent for the price
This is the 3rd cutlass I've ordered from this manufacturer. The 1st came unpolished. The 2nd came polished and oiled. These are pretty decent for the price. Well worth the money. I'm a Navy Drill Instructor so I like to have these extra cutlassses in case the issued ones don't work for my recruits. Good for gifts too.

This makes a great retirement gift along with getting it engraved
My second ordered sword. This makes a great retirement gift along with getting it engraved. If you show up with this, you become "THE MAN". Or the person that orders all the swords for retirement. Quality is Fine. Lets face it you are not going to war with this but it would look perfect as a great memento to remember your military life.
