Daphnis and Chloe in Full Score (Dover Orchestral Music Scores)

This work of Ravel's is one of the greatest gems of 20th Century music of the world. I am a composer, arranger, conductor and pianist and guitarist myself, and I gasp and shiver at the very sight of such a long composition and the eventual effort it took to Ravel to write it down. Ravel remains one of the greatest geniuses of modern classical music. And, as is the case with any Dover book edition, this is a "permanent" book, with dull slightly yellow-tilted paper for perfect non-shiny reading, and with ample margin space to jot down any comments and reminders you may have.

I just kinda sits there and lets you look at it.

It serves my needs as a study score. Good paper, sturdy cover. Easy on the eyes and a comfortable size.

Great score and easy to read. Very durable and LARGE! The most important thing is that it is cheap. A must for students, professionals, and listeners alike.

The pages could be a little bit whiter for a clearer reading. Some notes are a bit blurry. Other than that, it's a good edition.

The cover is a bit more deteriorated than expected from the product description.

ラヴェルの最高傑作であるバレエ音楽「ダフニスとクロエ」全曲版のフルスコア。デュランの1913年のものの再版です。物語の粗筋、フランス語の用語の英訳一覧、リハーサルナンバー83からの合唱だけの箇所の管弦楽バージョンもついています。 一般的に人気があるのは第二組曲で、これは日本でもスコアが出版されています。しかし全曲版もまた魅力があります。長くて退屈だという向きにはこのフルスコアを購入して読みながら聴いてみるというのはいかがでしょう。あらためて「スイスの時計職人」ラヴェルの精緻極まりないオーケストレイションが全曲に渡って堪能できると思いますよ。 それと、Amazon全般にいえることなんですが、なんといっても安価！多少の誤植を気にしない性格の方ならばますますオススメです。

The score came with the edge torn (see in photo). If you want to risk not having some of the piccolo or bassi parts then go ahead and buy here. I had to check my order over and over to make sure that I purchase a new score, not one from the thrift store. Ravel wrote a masterpiece, Dover’s publishing and sewn binding is masterclass, but the seller’s ability in packaging is masterflop.

Compré tres copias de éste score por cuestiones de escuela y todo está perfecto. El único detalle es que venían un poco maltratados de la pasta ya que se enviaron sin ser envueltos en plástico o algo.

This is the full orchestral score of the original 3-part ballet. Like all Dover scores, it's outstanding value for money. Despite the bargain price, it's a high-quality production; the print is clear and the whole score is well laid out. And the 'book' lays open, pages flat, no matter where it's opened. (this apparently simple benefit is vital when using the score to follow a recording, when rapid page turning is the norm. This edition is an essential resource and reference for any student of orchestration (Ravel was a master!)

Another excellent product from Dover. Clearly printed with quality binding. Good value for money.
