Great Controller & Almost Perfect!
This is a very excellent controller all the buttons feel great and the shape of it is comfortable to hold. The back buttons are also in a place where I dont accidentally press them; the dpad options are great as well. The customization on the app is very easy to understand and use. Ultimately this is a very good controller to get tht checks alot of boxes and u cant go wrong if u buy it. Ive used the very first version of this fighting commander octa years ago, and this newer version is way way better. I just hope they change somethings for the next installment of this controller.Im give it 5 stars but i do have some gripes or things i think they should change with the next version of this controller. I only really tested the controller with SF6 and my main controller ived used for years is the betop thorn from Aliexpress. Ive tried many different 6-button controllers over the years and the Betop is still my go to for fighting games. With this octa controller i think they should have the dpad and the face buttons feel relatable or similarish. The face buttons on this controller are lik mouse clicks, so its very sensitive and doesn't require much force to press, but the dpad is lik a normal membrane button press that isn't sensitive. So when i try to do special moves i have to remember to not press the face buttons to fast because the dpad cant be pressed in as quickly. So i have to train myself to sync the timing of the dpad and face buttons in a way tht im not used to. With practice u can get used to it tho. I just feel if the face buttons are tactile then so should the dpad; but i would ultimately prefer for the face buttons to be a lil smaller & regular pressing buttons lik on an xbox or ps5 controller. I would love it if the left stick was lower and more away from the dpad, also i wish the dpad was a lil bigger and was made similar the sega dpad controllers.

Bulky = dropped inputs
Way too bulky. You will drop inputs due to the placements of buttons. Seemed nice at first. I dropped way too many inputs and now I’ve had over 100+ matches with it to see if I can get accustomed to the controller but the bulkiness restricts your movements

Lots of promise but under delivers.
The Good: The features. Extra remappble buttons on the back are nice to have. The right analog stick slider is cool for adjusting camera angles in different games but I wouldn't use it for a FPS. You can remap buttons as needed in the software. The locking cable is well implemented but I worry about the durability of it long term. Different D-pad faces are nice to have. Wireless capability is also a cool extra.The Bad: The D-pad is not a good revision. This is the one part of a fighting controller that you cannot miss on and yet Hori missed the mark, it is quite the letdown. If you press too hard the entire d-pad plate sinks and activates multiple directions at once, this makes for easy miss inputs even after many hours of adapting to the controller. What makes it worse is that this is a solved problem, putting a pivot in the middle of the d-pad would make this controller S tier. This is a similar problem to what the Razer Raion had for their first-gen controllers, which they addressed in their 2nd gen. I hope Hori does the same and fixes this controller!

Cable issues, Battery Issues, and More!
Re-EDIT: At first, everything was working great. Until Two days later from the USA Launch ( I got this around April 16th, 2025), the Hori Octa Pro Controller I got stop working. I have tried using other USB-C type cables and It stop recgonizing through my PC and my PS5 Console, and i've tried to use the Hori App for testing, but I still ended up with failure results.Futhermore! Lithium Battery Issues. The Lithium Battery is solder onto the mainboard. It's not your typical PS4/PS5 dualshock battery type. Meaning, if you want to change the Hori Octa Pro, you will need to re-Solder the battery back onto the main board. Combine this with cable issues, the batter will or may not recharge. So! you are likely unable to use it, and left with a dead weight controller.Moreover! I did manage to get to use it before it died. All the new featuers are great!, having Swappable D-pads are GREAT! Very nice quality of life improvements! I did in fact love the two new D-pads you can swap with; Flat D-pad is way better than default D-pad. it's way more tolerable. And The Cross Type D-pad makes it feels identical to the older Hori commander D-pads from PS3/PS4 era. Overall, it is somewhat a better Improve version, it still has it's old flaws, and unfortuantely there are new flaws you will have to deal. I just wish it was a "Fully-Wired" Controller than it being Wireless.Again, I only had it for two days when it launch in United states, AND! it's100 dollars. So, I will have to refund this one.

Great controller! Must Update Out of The Box
The hori octa pro is my first 6 button controller. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now for Tekken 8, and I can say overall I really enjoy this controller. It’s sturdy, light and comfortable to hold in my hands for long gaming sessions. I, personally, have small hands and feel that the buttons are spaced out perfectly for anyone wanting to play with the claw style or traditional style. The dpad also is alot better than the dualsense dpad (imo) especially when needing to perform quarter and half circle inputs. Moreover, the additional swappable dpads are nice if you have a preference on how you like your dpad.The reason I gave this controller a 4/5 though is because you MUST update this controller on the hori device manager once you take it out of the box. Based on numerous online post, and in the reviews here, the dpad input are out of wack out of the box. Hori has fixed this with this update, but no one should have to update this controller on their own. Hori should be shipping these controllers with the Dpad update, especially if you are paying $110. Once you do update this controller, the dpad feels extremely nice with no input errors.
