Volume one was terrific, describing how LKY came to political maturity and how independent Singapore was born, strongly recommend reading that first. Volume two delivers on its promise of a detailed recipe for how a tiny island with no resources was grown into a first world country: ingredients, measurements, instructions for combining and baking; he explains it all. Makes it clear there was no mystery or magic, but rather extraordinary hard work, intelligence, energy and ethical discipline. It is fitting with LKY's lifelong dedication to the public good that he left the world this instruction book in case it is useful for future societies.

What a guy. This man single-handedly developed Singapore to succeed. Only a genius could have recognized all the factors to make this strange city survive and be an enormous power. Listen to what he did and what he thinks and you will become important.

Lee Kuan Yew is a prodigy of a statesman. I would recommend reading him, his insights on statecraft are enlightening.
