The only book I kept
I recently purchased several books on the subject of moving for my 3-yr-old son. This is the only one I kept. We are moving from one home to another in the same town. This story talks about putting all of your things in boxes, meeting new neighbors and getting a new room. It is very positive and assumes the experience will be positive in the eyes of the child. I really like that. The other books I got assumed the child would be, angry, upset, scared, or sad about moving. I feel like there is no reason to plant those seeds of negativity. My son has no prior history of moving and therefore no reason to have any negative emotion associated with moving. I do want to prepare him for the process and this book is perfect for us. The illustrations are also really wonderful.

Perfect "moving" book for preschool.
I've read nearly every "moving" book that our library has to offer, and this is the only one we come back to. It is straightforward, informative, amusing, and positive, without any of the emotional baggage that shows up in the books for older children. It introduces all the aspects of a major move, without the drama found in most other books, focusing on the family, the moving, meeting the neighbors, etc. Usborne has really high quality books all the way around, and this is no exception. I recommend for children 2 to about 6 or 7.

Great Book
I think this book helped my son conceptualize what a move is. We bought this book after he asked if he could bring his bed with us to the new apartment and we realized that he didn't understand what was happening. It's not the most fascinating story but it has clear illustrations and made sense to my 2 1/2 year old. It's clearly British, which we liked (my spouse is Irish and lived in London for many years). The one thing I didn't like about it is that we live in New York City so we moved apartments and the book clearly talks about houses, but I'm not sure that was confusing or anything for my son. He was, however, disappointed that the moving van came while he was at daycare.

Great Book for Younger Kid to See Positives about Moving
I read this to my son (almost 3 years old) the night it came in the mail, and he really enjoyed it. It wasn't boring and made the idea of moving more fun (a plus for the parents doing the reading). We are moving soon far from many friends and I needed something to ease the process. I loved that the story hit upon a normal childhood fear that one must leave or will lose a toy during the moving process. It has many good colorful pictures. I would say its good for any kid up to age 8 maybe - first or second grade. Will be keeping this one for awhile even after we move as it is a good reminder that friends are wherever we want to find them - never know where we will find our next friend :)

Cute little Book
What about a book that doesn't involve movers? I just couldn't seem to find one. (Not everyone can afford movers!). Anyway, this was a good, simple little book that introduced my toddler to the idea of moving.

Gentle, positive preparation for a toddler
This book gently lays out what might happen when a family moves to a new house. It prepares a young child for the steps that will happen, and shows the family happily settled in their new place. My two-year-old wanted to read it over and over again, and it helped us talk about our upcoming move and what she could expect. Now that we're settled in, she still wants to read it.

Highly Recommend if you have small kids
This book was very cute. While reading it to my kids my husband actually asked if I was making it up because of how it fit our process of moving and all the things we were talking about already with them. It was very positive and gave us topics on each page to stop and discuss to try to relate to our own life. If you are moving and have little children I highly recommend this book.

Beautifully illustrated and relevant for children moving house
Got this for my 4 year old to get him comfortable with the idea of moving and what happens when we move. Its a cute little book with keeps things simple with just the basics of moving - packing up and settling into a bew space.

Helpful book to prepare a child for moving
Lovely imagery, simple but accurate story moving through the stages of moving house. We read this the months before moving and it helped normalise moving. Great as always to play spot the duck.We have now ‘retired’ the book to avoid any confusion that we’re moving again!

A must moving with little ones
We were moving house with a 20 month old and wondered how they would comprehend the move, someone asked If we had a book to tell them all about it. We hadn’t but thought why not so ordered this. I was a little underwhelmed on arrival as it’s quite thin, but as they say you should never judge a book on first appearance and this really is a MUST BUY. Super lovely simple story. Our little one requested it every night and there is a hidden duck on each page. Even now we’ve moved a couple of months ago he still likes to pick the book and spot the ducks. If moving with little ones (doesn’t have to be a young as ours), it’s a lovely simple story. L

Good prep book
We read this book and used it as a great jumping point to prepare our toddler for a big move to a new house. I really think this helped make the transition smooth and easy and our toddler was very excited about the new house.
