Useful but needs refinement
I purchased this with my otherwise-outstanding Cougar vac (reviewed elsewhere) since the vac comes with no attachments and a vacuum cleaner without attachments is of limited use. Specifically, the attachments are good ideas but very poorly engineered. First issue was that the kit comes with no instructions for attachment. The metal pickup tube on the vacuum hose appears to be permanently attached but isn't. It must be removed from the rubber hose end to fit the attachments into or over the rubber hose tip, a matter that made my wife and me nuts until I figured it out. Secondly, although the brush is good to have and the clear plastic pickup tube is perfect for cleaning inside my stove's igniter port, under the burn pot and inside the circulation chambers, both attachments are difficult to attach properly. The vac's hose has very slight inner and outer bevels but the brush is difficult to slide over it and the clear hose stopper barely slides into it--the brush and metal pickup tube are chewing up the rubber hose end after just a few months of use and the rubber hose stopper barely inserts, popping out frequently at just the wrong times. The vacuum's hose needs a metal attachment collar, or the rubber hose end and all of the attachments need better bevels. You'll still need a small paintbrush for tight areas and a putty knife to scrape the carbon from your pellet stove's burn pot.

Not as good quality as it used to be
They changed the design of this and it's made a lot cheaper than it used to be. It no longer looks like the picture.

How did I get by without this?
Well, sometimes you do things one way, don't like doing them, but figure that's the only way to do it. Thank goodness, that's not the case with cleaning a pellet stove. It can be a dusty, nasty business, especially if you clean the stove while there's still heat inside it: this makes the fine particles rise with the heat. Soon you have a thin layer of ash all over the house. Not nice.Enter the ash vacuum. It's louder than a jet plane operating in your front pocket, but it does the job of cleaning the stove without letting ANY dust out. You know how regular vacuums blow a little bit of dust out when you turn them on? Not this thing. It's a really ingenious design. While you can vacuum warm ash, it's not designed for sucking up flames, so you do still have to let the stove cool down some before you clean it. But with this thing, your stove will be cleaner, run better, and burn brighter. What, you're still thinking about it? Come on...I wish I'd gotten this sooner!

Tools don't fit on to hose
Ordered these tools expecting the brush and crevice tool would be handy to clean my hearth and woodstove . . . however I was a bit confused as to how these tools fit on to the Love-less Ash Vacuum's hose.I tried various methods and for the life of me could not figure out how these were supposed to attach firmly to the hose until I read another reviewer's comments about how he had to remove the end of the hose . . . something I had not considered. After wiggling the end of the hose off I was able to firmly attach the various components . . . and now I am quite happy with this purchase. I would have perhaps given this product five stars if there had been more detailed directions as to how to attach the tools.

Glad I bought these for my Cougar vac
I'm puzzled by all the reviews saying that these tools don't fit or that they came without instructions. Perhaps the company has changed its instruction sheet, but mine had all the info I needed. The tools fit easily onto the end of the hose (after removing the metal nozzle, as instructed) and all three make cleaning my pellet stove easier. The long clear tube gets all the way to the bottom of the box, the brush cleans the sides and back, and the crevice tool gets into the tight spots. There is no way to attach the tools to the vac, but they are small, and I put them into a lunch-size cloth bag and hung the bag up near the vac.NOTE: The photo on this item as of the day of this review is NOT what is in the package.

Probably a good idea
It is annoying that these tools don't come with a $200 vacuum, but it's probably a good idea to pick these up. After all, you've come this far, right? I have a pellet stove, and all the tools have their uses. (the one with the clear tubing is needed for the occasional deep cleaning, when the access hatches are opened to get the fly ash out)I have a Cheetah ash vac, and I agree with the other review - there should be a way to store these tools with the main vacuum. (of course, there should be a better way to wrap the hose around the vac for storage as well) Maybe they'll invite me to one of their focus groups sometime...

Works great with my pellet stove.
Even though I allowed some time for the stove to cool, there must have been some hot spots that caused my plastic shop vac to start smoldering. I looked into the Dustless Technologies Vacuum to clean the ash from my stove. The unit is built to handle warm ash, since most of the parts are metal. It has a duel bag system that really filters that fine dust, that a regular vac just can't handle. I first saw it in use when my chimney sweep put his into action. The duel filters prevent the vacuum from puffing, something a regular vac can do with ash. I am very satisfied with this vacuum.

Having instructions on how to use the attachments making sure thatโs all there
No instructions on how to use the other attachments they are small attachments no idea how to use them or hook them up to be able to use and the tub did not come with the black rubber stopper to plug into the hose .
